What an amazing story by the @sokol_mdphd lab ! Sometimes the most basic questions turn out to be the result of fascinating and complex phenomena! Spoiler - it’s crosstalk between gd T cells, IL-3 and sensory neurons ! Congratulations to all the authors!
In our new paper out today we started with a simple hypothesis - inspired by work on IL-4/IL-13 from @itchdoctor - that an innate immune cell might control sensory neuronal detection of allergens via a secreted factor. (1/11)

So pregnancy can strip your body of calcium , but postpartum ( neuronal activity) will eventually come to rescue and restore bone mass !! Our bodies are so fascinating!
New from @Nature: a maternal brain hormone that builds bone 🤯🦴 During #breastfeeding, bones are stripped of calcium - yet they don't break down. A hormone discovered in lactating mice explains why not - and might someday help treat osteoporosis!🤓
