@LadyDemosthenes Survival after the war was a matter of luck. Japanese kids with access to the American occupying forces were treated well and fed, kids that lived in the country starved to death...just like the movie. I knew several Japanese who survived, because they lived near a base.

@LadyDemosthenes GOF was a horrific movie. I grew up in Japan, and many of the Japanese people despised their government for getting into a war they were never going to win, and allowing so many people to starve to death. It happened to many Japanese who did not have access to the Americans.
