Just realised, I'm 11 years sober this year. In that time I fell in love, got married, had a beautiful baby boy, bought a house and made reasonable inroads into the comics career I always dreamed of. None of this would've been possible if I'd still been drinking. None of it.

Took me literally years to learn this, but self-deprecation is utterly counterproductive in the creative industries. That's a problem if you're British because it's kind of our factory setting, but it has to be overcome. Luckily, arrogance is tolerated even less. 👍.
