In Parliament earlier this week, I pushed for better connectivity for Yorkshire. For years I’ve argued that expanding Heathrow can deliver transatlantic routes from Leeds & Bradford Airport via Heathrow. This would give the local economy a real boost, too.

It’s great to see these blood test trials to detect early stage dementia. I’m busy working on my updated Dementia Directory for Wetherby & Easingwold and will continue lobbying for investment in dementia-focused clinical research.

🫖 Last weekend, I enjoyed grabbing a coffee with residents at the coffee morning at Boroughbridge Methodist Church again, before calling into Barwick Methodist's coffee morning and drawing the raffle. Their next coffee mornings will be on Saturday 15th February.

It’s clear that the family farm tax will have little impact yet cause significant strain on the rural economy. I’ll continue to fight for our farmers and the wider economy in Wetherby and Easingwold.

The Minister for Health has confirmed that plans to build a new children’s hospital in Leeds have now been delayed for at least a decade. I’m angered by this decision and will continue to work with fellow Yorkshire MPs and councilllors in seeking a u-turn on this decision.

🦚 I enjoyed a visit to Hazlewood Castle near Tadcaster on Friday. We discussed challenges facing hospitality, the negative impact of the government's NI rise for employers, and exciting plans which - with the right market conditions - could increase local growth opportunities.
