for the best, most challenging, and most rewarding 4 years 💙
Phos is the best electrolyte.
I don’t mean to brag, but I definitely just got a nod from a group of airport dads also wearing passport-containing fanny packs— in other news, I’m 3 hours early for my flight
We asked our third year medical student a question about sodium, to which he said “it would be reasonable to consider…”
If that’s not Internal Medicine, I don’t know what is

I attempted a fundoscopic exam and my patient fake screamed when I got really close, so in case anyone’s wondering how my ED month is going I’m never using an ophthalmoscope again

Had a run of VT as I realized I accidentally paged the attending instead of the overnight resident at 10 pm on a holiday weekend to please hold Lovenox.

Coffee rounds for Medicine 1 this morning! Loving my first week as an attending on our teaching service and grateful for an awesome team!!
@MayoMN_IMRES
First day of residency! Goals for the day:
✔️Don’t accidentally introduce myself as the med student too many times
✔️Don’t stick a penny in the door

🔹Combined AKI and ARDS = worse outcomes vs. AKI or ARDS alone
❓Does timing of disease onset affect outcome❓
🔹ARDS after AKI = highest mortality, longest dialysis need, & longest time to kidney recovery
Kidney and lung cross-talk is an essential clinical topic that impacts a large proportion of critically ill patients. In this article, we explored this relationship further

PGY1s!!! Can’t wait to meet you all in person!!! 🥳🤩🤗
Just spent way too much time wandering through the hospital parking deck pressing the lock button on my keys and trying not to make it too obvious that I forgot where I parked last night

POV: you were adopted as a hospice cat then got kitty insurance and you finally got your surgery and now you have a giant new residency family who comes over to visit you all the time
Traveling is always interesting because my family is Austrian-Italian which means we get to the airport 4 hours early with boarding passes in hand but then remember we’re in Italy which means we can’t check luggage or go through security earlier than 1.5 hours before our flight
