@Albanianismvs I doubt he'll stay much, but anyway this sort of ruins his chances of (thank god) becoming more than a mayor. Nothing about politics, but I feel he would be more corny than Rama.

@mymoonovski Well as I said, as cognates. The second one, I misread Egeste, it says -este- is an Illyrian suffix. I must agree, but again, it's not deriving it from Albanian or calling it ancestor of Albanian. Sorry for popping up randomly, but your thread was mentioned in an unrelated post

@mymoonovski @Shoshjan The first two sources do say that. I have to agree that the third says Venetic specifically, and Venetic, while historically being grouped with Illyrian in a linguistic group, nowadays most see it as closer to Italic.

@massedonian @burreidheut @vozhdot @HaemusFaust That's true. Again, same can be said about celts, baltics, Basques, Fins, Estonians, etc.

@massedonian @ColomboSabani @burreidheut @vozhdot @HaemusFaust Ok this thread is derailing with different people engaging. I'm not gonna continue if this turns in ethnic name calling. The main point of your original tweet was that the wiki editors were contorting, and my point is that's not true. I'm going now.

@massedonian @burreidheut @vozhdot @HaemusFaust What about Lithuanian? Is Latin not a natural fit? Why did they choose it? What about welsh?

@massedonian @burreidheut @vozhdot @HaemusFaust Honestly? Because French typewriters were the cheapest, so we chose the French based alphabet in the beginning of 20th century for the alphabet for standard. Before that Albanians was written by many different alphabets, even some original ones like this

@massedonian @burreidheut @vozhdot @HaemusFaust Ok so? I am not one of those Albanians which spouts nonsense and insults slavs. And about alphabets, there was no need for a complete new alphabet for Albanians. Just like Basques, Bretons, Lithuanians and Poles used Latin alphabet, so did we.
