I am extremely delighted to share that I have started a new position at
@SurrealDB
as a Senior Frontend Engineer.
Looking forward to working with an amazing set of driven individuals and contributing in making THE next generation serverless database!
We are thrilled to announce that Akanksha Dharkar (
@AkankshaKana

It’s crazy how you feel homesick when you’re in the residing country but feel alienated when you’re back in your original country. Sometimes just makes you feel very lost. I think it’s called the expat syndrome.
Met my wonderful team at SurrealDB today.
Looking forward to spending the next two days gearing up for
#SurrealDBWorld
!
We’re here, where are you?
See you guys on 13th September!
Catch me at
#SurrealDBWorld
.
I’ll be part of two discussions about the evolution of databases (with Women Who Code Panel London) and different pathways into tech.
SO PSYCHED!
For the last year and a half I’ve been quite away from my social media - adjusting to a new country was not easy - hello, culture shock :]
But now that things have fallen a little more into place, into routine - I want to restart with my mentorship for people in tech.

My brother recently got me on the
@YukaApp
and it’s been so scarily good.
For those who aren’t aware - Yuka is an 100% independent app that scans food and cosmetic products in order to know their impact on your health.
It’s transparent, unbiased and informative.
Hearing
@ankushdharkar
talk about why having a career in frontend is awesome and how to go about it.
Such basic life skills that no one seems to talk about.
Man, what a session.

Planning on being in Bangalore from 22nd February to 3rd March.
Hit me up if you’d like to meet up or if know of any cool meet-ups happening around that time!

Ran into
@Naina_2728
and
@BhosalePratim
in Bangalore!
Met so many other wonderful people at the not-so-impromptu tech-not-tech meet up :P
Need more meet ups centred around social activities because today was such a good day!
I organised an AMA with
@tomdale
for the UI engineering team.
IT WAS AWESOME!!!
So much fun to have interacted with this absolute gem of a person and hear him talk about his undying love for
@emberjs
🤭
P.S. just can't get over the fact that he called me a super star 🌟
Extremely happy about how this animation engine turned out to be! ✨
Fluid, stable and so very visually appealing!
Recently I was working on a feature where I had an interesting animation problem of moving elements between lists.

Don’t worry if you’re not at
#SurrealDBWorld
, come catch it on !
@ankushdharkar
Incorporating TDD or BDD in your learning experience as a best practice will help you habitually be in a state where you reduce the number of bugs that come your way. Basically an investment that will save you time in the future and force you to think about how you’re writing
So,
@Google
Forms didn't correctly record all responses and I ended up not having 360+ emails for some reason.
Having 800 people refill the form is not the most optimal so I need to brainstorm on a workaround.
Will come back with an update soon!
Today, I became a

Had such a great time meeting everyone and listening to

talk about

Can’t wait for the next one!

Also, apologies about the delay.
I've had to process some deaths around me and recently had a right hand surgery done so I was away from my social platforms.
My hand is still under recovery so I appreciate the understanding and patience.
@ankushdharkar
Men truly need to stop defending their friends being creepy, forceful and disrespectful in the name of “bro code”.
GET BETTER BROS. HAVE BETTER CODES.
@_ShaliniSingh_
Isn’t this just offloading your bad management calls on your engineering team? Why are the developers being made to be held responsible for finance related decisions?
Wanted to ask this on WhatsApp after you messaged me but I’d been blocked by then.
If you are a budding rails developer just starting out, part of an underrepresented group in tech and are unable to bag an opportunity without a reference, then I may be able to help you.
@ClarkGermany
is looking for someone like you!
Feel free to DM me if you’re interested :)
For all you women in/looking to get in tech, take a look at what Rajani Rao (Principle Technologist - Aveva) and Irina Kamalova (Senior Director - Women Who Code London) have to say to you!

was AMAZING!
I’d love to take a moment to appreciate this initiative by
@AnjaliiSharmaaa
.
Had a wonderful conversation with her about so many aspects of my life.
Everything so wonderfully summed and eloquently written. 💙
AMA about your struggles in tech, how to network efficiently, soft skills (because a good engineer who can’t communicate isn’t what we want) and anything you think you’d want another perspective on!

@hellonehha
Without undermining anyone - congratulations to be in a position where you’re proud of what you earn but kindly don’t mislead others.
Some people don’t look at cost of living and it shows.
Happy Birthday
@tomdale
! 🎉🎉🎉
Thank you for being the awesome-ly cool mentor you’ve been.☺️
Wishing you many many more. Looking forward to coffee sessions again soon.☕️
Bruh. I’m dying at the number of people making a full fledged “you need help for saying this” conversation out of a tweet that just says what the actual TRADEMARKED, commonly misspelled by people, names are.
Like I wouldn’t want someone typing my name as aKaankShhhaa ???? 🤡 🤡
Daily reminder to not send "Hello XYZ" or "Hey XYZ! How are you doing?" as your first cold dm to people.
Nobody expects small talk or has the time for it.
Send a single straightforward, polite message with your ask.
Else you're going to lose your opportunity to connect.
Which got me thinking about making instructional videos and putting them on the platform.
Wondering if any emberjs enthusiasts want to help me out in this since I have practically no video-editing experience yet.
It's a good way to help others learn, too!

Super happy! So many crazy smart people here.
Looking forward to all the knowledge sharing and growing together while getting the chance to contribute in changing the way people think about traditional databases!
@MichaelCade1
I tried SO hard to get my old account back that was linked to a yahoo email (which no longer functions or helps you if you’ve forgotten your password) and they always dismiss my case :(
If you find out how to, please share that with me too!
you know what's the saddest part? every girl. literally every girl has been touched without her consent.
happy independence day to the men in india tho
The ones that get it, get it. The ones that don’t, don’t.
I just don’t want to quote or show the tweets because the less engagement it gets, the better tbh.
@Charizard_
It’s actually company code, so I guess I can’t use those snippets here.
I’ll make a personal code sample and upload it to github asap and post the link. Thanks for replying!
@hellonehha
That’s awesome!
I did that with Instagram and switched off my notifications completely, had a “withdrawal symptom” for the first two days but seeing my screen time go down significantly is totally worth it! ✨
