Even after 77 years, e Sinhala govt still can’t seem to find e funds to implement e official language policy. Funny how there’s always money for other priorities, but never for fulfilling constitutional commitments. Thanks, @officiallahiru, for raising this issue. @harini
My follow-up question also asked why @SL_PoliceMedia still communicates almost entirely in Sinhala on SM when Tamil is an official language. Surely, there’s at least one officer in the entire police force who can read, write and speak Tamil? The Minister admitted there’s a lack of translators in public institutions, blaming low salaries and calling it both a policy and technical issue.

Let's get facts right! AG's legal opinion on discharging 3 suspects is NOT related to the killing of Lasantha Wickrematunge. Instead, it pertained to the abduction of Lasantha's driver & disappearance of his field notebook. No one hs been arrested over Lasantha's murder to date

Just to clarify, when I said "you," I was referring to those who protested in front of the AG's department, not Lasantha's family members.
So, you don’t trust e AG to handle Lasantha’s case? Funny, because when Tamils asked for an international investigation into alleged war crimes, you were all about how e domestic system was more than capable. Guess e AG’s dept is only trustworthy when it suits certain interests.

This isn’t meant to discredit Lasantha’s family’s quest for justice—it’s about highlighting the double standards of the South. Until the South realizes the system is rigged and they’re complicit in it, nothing will change. The call for a system change is just political rhetoric.
