As we celebrate the joy of this festive season, we thank farmers & stakeholders who have been part of our journey this year. We have empowered communities through technology transfer, impactful trainings, & job creation for youth & women. Merry Christmas and a prosperous 2025!

In Kenya, the Restore Africa programme aims to plant over 10 million trees across Narok, Migori, Elgeyo Marakwet, Kilifi and Kwale counties, while improving the livelihoods of 250,000 households.

Africa Harvest in collaboration with @GreenBeltMovmnt, under the Restore Africa programme has presented business models for the selected value chains in Narok County (beans, beekeeping, sheep and goats, avocado), and trained on GAPs and effective good management.

In Migori, Restore Africa is promoting poultry, sorghum and mangoes while aiming to plant 840,000 trees & enhance the livelihoods of 16,000 households. The program also extends to other counties, including Kwale, Kilifi, Narok, and Elgeyo Marakwet.

“Before the #RestoreAfrica intervention, I only used to do vegetable farming which was not bad but I couldn’t raise enough money,” Said Linet Migingo. She further stated, “I hope to increase my income after planting these mangoes today. School fees will no longer be an issue.”

This training is not only a step towards empowering local farmers but also a foundation for building robust community seed systems that foster innovation, sustainability, and resilience in the agricultural sector.

The training focused on sorghum, pearl millet, groundnuts, green grams, & pigeon peas under the DTCs 4 Youth Jobs Creation program. By enhancing seed quality, these farmers are better equipped to generate income while ensuring a steady supply of certified seeds in the market.

Young farmers exhibited value-added products developed under the DTCs for Youth Jobs Creation Project, including peanut butter, cakes, scones, & mandazi. The County Executive Committee (CEC) Member for Agriculture visited our booth & commended the income generating innovations.

Restore Africa Program is intentional about a collaborative approach, which seeks to incorporate ideas and suggestions of all relevant key players in the program.

For 22 years, SOIL has played a primary role in our work to ensure an ‘Africa free from hunger, poverty, and malnutrition.’ It has provided the foundation for crops to thrive, resulting in food & income. Today, we celebrate SOIL as a vital resource in agriculture. #WorldSoilDay
