On the morning of the funeral of Lord David Trimble, the Irish national flag hangs at half mast at the Embassy of Ireland in London. May he rest in peace.
On behalf of the Government of Ireland, I was honoured to lay a wreath at the cenotaph in Whitehall this morning. This Remembrance Sunday, I particularly recalled the estimated 45,000 people from the island of Ireland who lost their lives in WW1.
Very sad news this evening of the passing of Jack Dromey MP. Jack was deeply proud of his Irish roots and a great friend of Ireland in Parliament. My sincere condolences to his wife Harriet Harman MP, his family & colleagues in the Labour Party. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anám.
