Feminism has occupied four waves in history. We must never forget the struggle of women since the 1840s to gain equality. Without their sacrifice, we could never have achieved the 3rd wave in the 90s & the 4th present wave. "Embracing the spirit of rebellion instead of reform, third-wave feminists encouraged women to express their sexuality and individuality. Many embraced a more traditionally feminine style of dress and grooming and even rejected the term “feminist” as a way of distancing themselves from their second-wave predecessors. “Riot grrl” groups like Bikini Kill, Bratmobile and Heavens to Betsy brought their brand of feminism into pop music, including songs that addressed issues of sexism, patriarchy, abuse, racism and rape." Some say that fourth wave feminism is merely the continuing evolution of the third wave in the 1990s as described above. Pop icons like Beyonce represent the nature of true freedom within our gender and society as a whole. Some might say, and they are wrong, that she is contributing to the objectification of women. I say she is contributing to the rights of 'people' to show who they are without shame and without fear of being shamed! To present themselves as they see fit, without being subjected to prejudice and criticism, often by their own gender, who are unwittingly being complicit in the pushback that is happening against our hard-won freedoms. Make no mistake, there is a movement in the world that would take away women's rights. The rights we possess as equal citizens, the rights we possess over our own bodies, how we treat them, and how we display them. Our sexual rights and our rights to abortion. This movement is highly motivated and deeply invested in religious beliefs. Politics on the right, particularly in America, is drenched in it. Patriarchs and misogynists, supported by a powerful and dangerous element of internalised misogyny (google it), do not believe that women should have equal rights to men. To them, it is counterintuitive. They are active, and in many states, they are winning. If Trump becomes president in November, they achieve a massive leap backwards for democracy and women's rights, with the likely introduction of the Christian heritage society's project 2025 into Americas political landscape. There is no doubt that our rights are seen as far from inalienable. What has been achieved can be taken away again. To assume formality and decorum, by attiring ourselves in a metaphorical burqa or veil is not the answer. That would only give the wrong message to the world and our critics. We must remain true to ourselves. Our standards must be our own. Our bodies must remain our own. I've recently watched a series called The Son, a good part of which is occupied by the lead characters' early history as an American boy in a band of Cheyenne. I think it's gives a fairly accurate picture of the mindsets involved. It's very much worth watching and stars Pierce brosnan I found the dates hard to reconcile.theres a huge gap between the two story lines.
