Sobering new @APEAL_Lab research shows that we need better supports for transgender and gender diverse people.
A nationally representative study from Canada found that transgender and gender diverse people are at a higher risk of past year and lifetime mental health disorders, substance use disorder, and suicidal behavior, compared to the cisgender population.

More evidence that guaranteed cash transfers results in improved health outcomes. We discuss this in our World Psychiatry review of social determinants of mental health:
A low-income community near Boston assigned individuals by lottery to receive a monthly cash benefit. Those who received the benefit had less use of the ED, particularly for behavioral health & substance use, and decreased hospital admissions from the ED.
