My mum 86 gets state pension, pension credit, heating allowance, council tax rebate. She manages her finances well. Heating is on timed. House is warm. Cupboards are full of good food. She cooks from scratch. I can't understand why she can and others can't.

Not only did we have one bath a week on a Sunday but me, my brother and my sister all bathed in the same water. Then once you'd had your hair washed you couldn't go outside for the rest of the day in case you "caught your death of cold"
