I am Canadian. I don't understand why Trump is out to get us. We have been loyal and faithful friends and neighbours. It seems now, that all that is forgotten, and we are at odds. The friendship has run it's course.

As a lifelong Democrat who voted Republican in the last election (as many of us did- clearly the election would not have gone the way it did if we had not), and who will probably be changing my registration to Republican before the next election, please hear what I (and we) have to say about why we've left the Democrat Party. It is NOT the "messaging". Stop saying that it is, because by continuing to hide your heads in the sand about the real reasons people are leaving the party isn't going to revive the party. You have to return to common sense. You've gone too far into extreme progressive ideology. People don't want males in female changing spaces, jails, shelters and sports. Yet the party continues to dig it's heels in (pun intended) on that issue. People don't believe in allowing mutilating surgeries on confused children. People don't want their children taken from them and given to the state if they don't agree to the mutilation and drugging (hormones) of their child. It IS the law in some blue states, and it's frightening and surreal. People do not want millions of unvetted people simply allowed to cross our border- we're seeing the danger and disastrous results of this. People want to be safe. People want violent criminals taken off the streets, so they and their children can be safe. None of this is really rocket science. The truth is, the "heart and vision" of the Democrat Party has gone very far astray. The policies hurt working people the most. No matter how you try to put makeup on the pig with different "messaging", you're not going to convince people to accept the things I outlined above because most people live in the real world, not the "la-la" land of Democrat elites.
