๐Ÿ’ฅโœจ WE ARE BACK WITH ANOTHER @1804books STAFF PICK:๏ฟฝ๏ฟฝ All of us are on our journey of revolutionary study together, so we gotta compare notes! Come and see what some of the TPF staff has to say about their favorite books on the shelves at 1804 and why you need to take a book (or a few) home with you!ย  ๐Ÿ”— Find the book featured here and many more at and at the link in our bio. This week weโ€™re featuring Kate on her pick HAYDร‰E SPEAKS OF MONCADA: THE SPARK THAT LIT THE CUBAN REVOLUTIONโ€ฆ โ€œThis book is beautiful. It features moving writing from a comrade who delivers to a generation of young people, who wanted to follow in her footsteps, a testimony about how to dedicate themselves to the project of the Cuban Revolution. She speaks with so much humility, each answer she gives (to questions from students in a seminar that she delivered a speech to) is the most sincere and touching lesson for anyone looking for steadfastness and conviction in challenging timesโ€”even her most sobering stories carry with them so much revolutionary determination!ย  (BONUS: Itโ€™s a short, pocket-sized read that gives me confidence in my commitment to reading in the new year!)โ€ ๐Ÿ”ดโšซ๏ธ On July 26, 1953, Haydรฉe Santamarรญa was one of two women who joined Fidel Castro in the armed uprising against the Moncada Barracks. This book is a candid transcript of a discussion held in 1968 between Santamarรญa and the youth of a Cuba who were tasked with the defense of the new revolutionary society!ย  โž• Check out Concerts For Cuba 2025 a special event this Feb. 16 raising funds for the Cuban people ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡บ who are fighting against US blockade! Get your tickets at (link in bio!) ๐Ÿ‘€ Keep an eye out on all the staff picks in the coming days and weeks!

๐Ÿ“• Commemorate ๐š๐šŽ๐š ๐™ฑ๐š˜๐š˜๐š”๐šœ ๐™ณ๐šŠ๐šข with The Peopleโ€™s Forum and 1804 Books! ๐Ÿ’ฅEvery year, thousands of people across the world commemorate Red Books Day to stand in solidarity with left books, their authors, and the peopleโ€™s movements they ushered forward. While Red Books Day takes place on the publication day of the Communist Manifesto, February 21 also marks the sixtieth anniversary of Malcolm Xโ€™s assassination. As we commemorate 100 years of his life in 2025, we remember the legacy he leaves behind for organizers across the worldโ€”a legacy cut short by those who feared his message of resistance and revolution. Join us here at @peoplesforumnyc and @1804books on Feb. 21 from 4pm to 9pm for an evening to commemorate Malcolm Xโ€™s life, and to stand in defense of revolutionary voices, amplifying them even more! 1 Celebrate left art and culture by screen-printing for Red Books Day! Covering all fronts, these essays take on the task of answering the titular question, interrogating history in order to understand how the US tries to undermine democracy and sovereignty in Latin America, with its particular fixation on Venezuela. The essays critique the US and oppositionโ€™s roles in undermining this revolution, exposing the mediaโ€™s distortions and the roots of the right wing in Venezuela. They also contextualize the grassroots character of the Revolution and the broad impact that it has had on the Latin American regionโ€”a region the US has long sought to control.

๐Ÿ“š INTRODUCING: @1804books Staff Picks โœจ ๐Ÿ“ฃ Want to start some revolutionary study? Donโ€™t know where to begin? We got you covered! Weโ€™re excited to share our 2025 Staff Picks! Hear from @PeoplesForumNYC staff about our favorite books on the shelves at 1804 and why you should add them to your 2025 reading lists! Tajee, on his pick, THE BLACK BELT THESIS: A READER: โ€œThe Black Belt Thesis Reader is a fantastic collection of essays and research that support the revolutionary concept of a black nation in the southeastern United States. This particular theory of a black nation is foundational to understanding the black liberation struggle and the ways that race and class have shaped the politics in the United States. Furthermore, the influence of W. E. B. Du Boisโ€™ research at the turn of the 20th century on Leninโ€™s formulation of the Black Belt Thesis, and therefore, the Comintern resolution, highlights the international significance of the Bolshevik Revolution, and the deep connections between communism and the black liberation struggle. Most importantly, this book serves as a reminder of the centrality of the black liberation struggle to the victory of the socialist movement in the United States and the defeat of colonialism and imperialism across the globe.โ€ The Black Belt Thesis reader features seminal texts from Harry Haywood, Claudia Jones, W. E. B. Du Bois, Louise Thompson, and with a foreword from Eugene Puryear! Keep your eyes out in-store and online for more revolutionary recommendations that you can purchase, study, and add to your toolkit! ๐Ÿ”จ ๐Ÿ”— Find this book and many more at and at the link in our bio. ๐Ÿ‘€ Stay tuned for more staff picks in the coming days and weeks!
