PoS chain is not pointless and has kept users inside the Ethereum ecosystem for years.
If it didn’t exist, more people would have begrudgingly gone to Avalanche or something.

It’s non-trivial to rewrite apps for different environments and startups can’t afford a misstep.
Blended execution literally solves this. Blended = future proofed.

EVM network effects are real. Dev tools and infra compatibility, learning and troubleshooting resources, written and audited code, developers with EVM skillsets.
BUT technical criticisms of EVM are also real - you don't want to constrain execution environments to vanilla EVM.
EVM dev tooling has improved a ton over the last couple years:
- viem >>>> ethers >> web3.js
- foundry >> hardhat (although scripting is still better) >> truffle
- transaction simulators are better
- indexers have improved greatly
The EVM gets easier to work with everyday.

Super important framing. It’s too easy to say simple fast finality good / complex slow finality bad, but there are clear reasons why Ethereum works the way it does.
Imagine a crypto-staking ban in a prominent country and if Ethereum ran on a finalizing protocol like Tendermint, it can stall completely due to validators going offline. While it is possible to socially coordinate a recovery by kicking out such validators, this is contentious.
