@terrychristian Just stop oil literally blocked the roads in London for weeks, in addition they have damaged invaluable pieces of artwork and run a campaign of terror tactics to block roads and cause misery and suffering to millions… how is this the same a legal peaceful protest?

@Negatrev @JCS_1956 @BladeoftheS @DonFbpe If it can be avoided through structural changes the government won’t raise any money. What was the point in making the change in the first place? Gov numbers are way off, they factor in small holdings. Average size farm 250 acres @ £10k/acre plus buildings and machinery…

@JCS_1956 @BladeoftheS @DonFbpe How moronic, if they pay IHT farms will close and the land sold off to housing developers - imagine this is what farmers want. Agriculture requires long hours and they are paid less than minimum wage so people like you to slag them off, enjoy it when supermarket prices skyrocket

@drew_carver @williamnhutton 😂 thatchers conservatives were way to the right of any conservatives since. The Overton window doesn’t even allow the current crop to talk about themes central to conservatives worldwide - family, religion, and limited government intervention.

@terrychristian No the trouble with capitalism is that socialists come along and try to make it soft and cuddly; demanding failing businesses are bailed out, implementing uncompetitive employment regulations and obscenely high minimum wage rate. Central control of the markets doesn’t work.

@UPS trying desperately to send a letter from France to UK. The letter has been stuck in customs for nearly 4 weeks and despite contacting you repeatedly your staff are showing no signs of any urgency or any desire to help. Please can you look into this urgently? #upsdelivery

@JamesHandscombe @Ayo1420615 @MontyCristo11 Well we shall see how it pans out but I suspect that it’ll more than you think. There are huge numbers who really sacrifice to send their kids to these schools and extra few grand a year for 13 years adds up to a lot. Particularly with suppressed wage growth etc.

@JamesHandscombe @Ayo1420615 @MontyCristo11 You’re right it’ll just make it mightily difficult for some kids to do so and push out bursary/scholarship students. I suspect the policy has actually been put together to try and make the independent sector more elitist which can then be used as a pretext for outlawing them.

@JamesHandscombe @Ayo1420615 @MontyCristo11 Have a look at “The manifesto project”. Very interesting and helps to inform my view on where the modern Conservative Party sits on a global left-right scale. Seems pretty clear that our system and Overton window has shifted to the left since Blair.

@JamesHandscombe @Ayo1420615 @MontyCristo11 Worth noting that Ukrainian refugees were fairly evenly spread around the country making it much easier to accommodate. When a school closes the impact is much more concentrated. As of yet no studies done on how this affected other children’s education with bigger class sizes.

@JamesHandscombe @Ayo1420615 @MontyCristo11 I think there’s also a strong argument that Tory policies were centre to centre left by any global standard.

@JamesHandscombe @Ayo1420615 @MontyCristo11 Bury your head in the sand if you’d like but I think that there will be severe issues in some areas, and for the kids in those places their education will be badly impacted. Who has trialed this and what assumptions were made? To bring this in mid year is particularly awful.
