#StopBurmeseMilitaryAistrikes Airbus, the biggest aerospace company in the UK and Europe, whose main shareholders are European governments, is doing business with a Chinese company arming the Burmese military. The Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) sold up to 8 new aircraft to the Burmese military in the last year alone, knowing full well they will be used to kill civilians. Airbus must give its business partner AVIC an ultimatum: Stop supplying the Burmese military, or we end all our business relationships. More information about Airbus and AVIC is available here: Help take action here-

Zoya Phan, Programme Director of @burmacampaignuk, said that four years since the military coup in Myanmar/Burma (and much longer for ethnic minority communities), the military junta has been deliberately targeting civilians across the country, and people are simply exhausted. Three and a half million are currently internally displaced (likely more) – the highest number in the country's history – but Phan has some optimism, as for the first time ‘we hear more and more about what Burma will look like without the Burmese military’. This is good news, the UK is reversing the massive cuts in aid to Burma. We urgently need more support and humanitarian aid, especially in liberated areas across the country. Ethnic people are taking back more control of their own lands and their own resources. Governments and donors need to understand the new situation in Burma and respond to this. They need to engage with multiple different local administrations and civil society organisations.
📢 Four years since the coup, the 🇬🇧announces an uplift in live-saving support for #Myanmar in the face of an unprecedented humanitarian crisis. This funding includes: ⬇

I joined a panel discussion on Syria and Burma at ODI event in London. I talked about the need for more humanitarian aid in Burma and more international pressure on the Burmese military. International community must support the people of Burma and the revolutionary groups.- Together with Dustin Barter, Zainab Moallin, Caoimhe de Barra, and Sana Kikhia.

Situation in refugee camps President Trump ordered all US AID to be suspended while it is reviewed. The US State Department, which is in charge of US AID, then ordered all programmes to stop work, except emergency food and nutrition. This order forced the hospitals and other services in the refugee camps along Burma border to close, because the stop work order meant that even if an organisation has received the grant from US AID, it could no longer spend it. Staff in hospitals funded by US AID cannot volunteer and cannot keep going, because they are using US AID funded equipment, buildings etc. If they don’t stop work then they are ignoring the order and the funding is likely to be permanently stopped. Because of the problems caused by the stop work order around the world, the US State Department has now changed its order, where medical care, shelter and other life-saving aid work can continue. The aid review has to happen within 90 days, which means they could do it much faster, but we have to wait and see. Hopefully, aid can be reinstated as soon as possible. We need to see adequate aid for refugees who are dependent on aid. ….

မၤနၢၤပျီ, Manerplaw, မာနယ်ပလော. It has been 30 years since I was first forced to flee from my home, Manerplaw in Kawthoolei, because of the attacks by the Burmese military. It left a devastating impact for many of us. Impunity has enabled the Burmese military to continue committing war crimes, and crimes against humanity against the people of Burma. 30 years on, there are more than 21,000 political prisoners and over 4 million displaced civilians across the country. Manerplaw has been recaptured by the KNU. Sadly, my father and mother did not live to witness this news. However, this brings us new hope, new energy for our struggle. No matter what they do to us. We will not give up. The struggle will go on until we achieve genuine freedom. Zoya Phan - နန့်ဇိုယာဖန်း 27 January 2025 Note- Manerplaw was captured by the Burmese military on 27 Januarry 1995. …..

"Padoh Naw Shee Wah is one of the many young leaders who work so hard for the development of grassroots communities, to fight for their rights and to have their voice heard. This is so important for our society. She is a shining star for Kawthoolei and the Phan Foundation is inspired by her courage and commitment. We are thrilled to be able to recognise her achievement and support her valuable work. Through the Padoh Mahn Sha Young Leader Award, we hope to be able to help our people through dedicated leaders like Padoh Naw Shee Wah and others."- @zoyaphan
