@KordingLab That’s very sad 😢 China’s Hainan Island can be entered visa-free for US citizens. 30 days’ stay. One can apply for a visa to travel to other parts of China after landing in Hainan. But still, it’s a pain

@jdpereira I agree. After the experiments are all done, we can organize the results and convey the main idea to the audience through the form of a good story either in a talk or a paper. But during study conduction, one shouldn’t decide what to do next by trying to make up a story.

@Xieeee4 I know someone who is going to a non-tenure track faculty position directly after PhD graduation (he already published a first-author Science paper). I assume the biggest difficulty in this path is that one has to compete with tenure-track profs to recruit postdocs and students
