Not to be pedantic, but Senators swear an oath to support and defend the Constitution, not do whatever the president their constituents elected wants.
BREAKING: Mitch McConnell and Lindsey Graham are reportedly both a “NO” for RFK. Trump won S. Carolina by 20 points. Kentucky by 31. Both senators took an OATH to represent their constituents. They both will break their oath…again. What should be done about these two?

I get that all the old timers want to brag about how many hours we worked. It’s true! But long hours aren’t inherently good. The long hours matter because most of us dreamed of working on the Hill because we wanted to be a part of the boldest experiment in self government in human history. And we knew our own preferences for “work-life balance” took a backseat to the demands of a chaotic legislature. The long hours represented the commitment to serving your country and accepting a fraction of sacrifice that could be asked of other serving, like those in the armed forces. So the demand for shorter hours is perceived by many of us as elevating personal wants over the dedication and effort required to make democracy work. And that doesn’t sit well.
Progressive Hill staff are asking for a 32-hour workweek "We write today to encourage you to consider adopting a proposal that would improve worker satisfaction, increase staff retention in Congress, and model a more sustainable approach to work on a national level."

@stephen_richer Sure. What’s crazy is 1) the total disregard for a wife’s concerns for her husband’s safety and 2) victim blaming for any man that would need rescuing from a fire. Can you imagine the uproar this response would generate coming from any other messenger?
