Tbh, you’re being a bit disingenuous. Of course USAID falls under that designation. It wouldn’t have a budget if Congress hadn’t approved it. I think you know that. I actually haven’t seen any “fraud” yet. I have seen lots of programs and agencies experience indiscriminate cuts and even wholesale elimination because what they were doing is at odds with the Project 2025 folks. Sure, elections have consequences. But the way they are going about this is pretty sus. Firing the IGs for example, when they’re literally the people who investigate fraud and corruption in their respective agencies. Putting out Orwellian lists of words that aren’t allowed to be used in research or funding will be cut off. What are these people so afraid of? And people who are cheering this on don’t seem to have an understanding of how disruptive this process is going to be if it isn’t done more thoughtfully. I recently read that the federal government accounts for 20% of the country’s economy. Those “wasteful” USAID programs? They buy the food from American farmers. The funding for research? It is paid back many times over by the benefits it provides to the computing, biotech, agriculture, pharmaceutical, construction, engineering, etc etc etc companies and sectors who profit from the results. Just unilaterally tossing this into a dumpster is nonsensical. I don’t know why the guy isn’t willing to do it in a way that would actually be helpful.
