Digging into all of this. Preliminary thoughts... XTC makes perfect sense as a developer/community tool to access wrapped cycles and to my knowledge it's still being used today (including by Dfinity). It's been a success in this respect. Was XTC ever branded as a "stablecoin"? It failed to maintain a peg in dollar terms, but I can't find any references to that being an intended/advertised feature. 1 XTC = 1T cycles regardless of the USD value of XTC. XTC could achieve price stability in dollar terms to your points, but I'd hesitate to ever brand it as a stablecoin / attach those expectations. It could be used this way by those willing to accept the risks, I don't think it should be advertised as such. Price instability presents arbitrage opportunities but doesn't affect the core function. Developers can always mint XTC and use it as intended regardless. Despite the trust assumptions, I think fiat-backed stables, commodity-backed stables and overcollateralized stables are preferable. Looking forward to learning more and hearing from others. Links to references... - - -
