Been reflecting on this and think it's the reason FAANG tech culture is devolving into general antipathy and entitlement. Hang out with doctors or artists and SV tech culture attitudes just seem unhinged in comparison..
An opera singer sees the joy on audience faces when she sings. A doctor sees gratitude when she heals a patient. This gives work meaning.
A software engineer sees lines of code. It’s too abstract to have meaning. This is a problem.
