Horizontal #segregation fuels economic #inequalities. Yet, the perceived fairness of these disparities is underexplored. @diana_galos, S. Strauß, @thinz_ukon, and I investigated how people perceive #fairness in the economic returns of #fields of study.

Our findings support the female preference for equality and self-interest perspectives: women and respondents in lower-rewarded fields perceive greater unfairness. Women are especially likely to perceive unfairness when it aligns with their self-interest.
