High school baseball coaches, we should ALL work together for the players we share; it is in fact about them… but if you’re going to be territorial over when/where/who they train, hit, or pitch with, you need to take over the countless hours spent getting them recruited as well.
Reality check… if you’re 16 or older, and it’s a debate on whether you really want to play baseball this summer, it’s actually not a debate. Don’t play. There are too many others that want those ABs/innings that you’re going to waste. Setting 💵 on 🔥

Long 20 hour drive from North Carolina➡️Texas... Just spoke to a parent. They simply said we (

Losing big games are frustrating; losing great young men to the next step in their careers flat out hurts. What a year this group put together.

Turn the tv on… 95/96 is the new 89/90, & if you miss in the middle, it gets barreled too. “Touching 90” living mid 8’s w/ HS average secondary stuff gets turned around or spit on in JC ball… the point, touching 90 is not a “dude” anymore.

DI World Series! The win marked the Buccaneers' first in Grand Junction since 2014.
20 years ago when I graduated high school had my coaches not held me accountable for following rules like spitting seeds on turf or fulfilling my team commitment my parents would have been upset w/ my coaches… today, parents are upset because the coaches hold kids accountable 🤔
Recruiting has become a combination of a Vegas crap table and a popularity contest. Players w/ zero varsity experience and no confirmed position making verbals to power 5 schools is baffling to say the least; the taller the stack of chips, the longer you get to sit at the table.
Just spent an hour on the phone w/
@JayHundley5
our
@CanesMidwest
director. Needed help getting an underclass arm on a roster for PG Worlds... took one hour to secure. Power of working together for the players. I’ve always said relationships > trophies!
Seniors in HS that have not committed to play college baseball… college baseball players “lift & get bigger” AND play games in the fall. Being in the gym isn’t seasonal, it’s a lifestyle. Transfer portal, grad transfers, additional Covid years… you need every look you can get.
Taking zero ground balls, hitting one time a week, not conditioning your arm, putting bad food in your body, lifting here & there, no real routine… don’t be upset at the results you don’t get, from the work you didn’t do.

Just heard a new addition to Canes Southwest was “kicked out” of another group’s fall league due to their new affiliation into our program. Not sure if that’s sad, or scared? We’re very, very apologetic, for out working you. You can’t stay on top if you stop grinding.
We have to get a handle on the game. Zero issue w/ some mouth running if backed up… but fans standing on fence being vile to on deck hitters at HS games, form tackles of base runners, the same player provoking altercations against every team, EVERY GAME… time to rein it in…
1st round of Texas HS baseball playoffs started yesterday. Some teams already have their back against the wall dropping game 1... don’t give up. Play as hard as you can today. The memories of being on the field w/ the guys you group up w/ are on the line today. 🤟🏼
I’ve experienced tournament hosting and showcase events w/
@SmittyHawk0
&
@PerfectGameUSA
... if you only knew the amount of care, effort & hard work this man and this company put into being the best. 14 hour days, soaked in rain, scouts typing not missing a pitch!
#worthit
When your matchup is a bought team, versus a developed team, and the developed team curb stomps the bought team by 8 runs, you have to start understanding brothers are more powerful than mercenaries.
1st round of playoffs over, 1st round of teams that their journey ended. If your door wasn’t kicked in this spring w/ offers, I wouldn’t take 4-7 days off a week. Weights, run, nutrition, cage, pen, etc should be getting smashed. Those that do will get the attention. Guaranteed.
95mph, 100mph, 105mph... if you walk more hitters than you get outs, you won’t pitch. Youth travel ball, high school ball, college or professionally, VELO is awesome, but command keeps you on the rubber.
There is a huge difference in a soft .350 (weak contact, singles, no juice, no hits in big moments, not driving runs in) & a louder .270 (RBIs, knocks in big moments, outs are barrels, XBHs). Conclusion: hitting isn’t just about your batting average.
1. Truly have the backs of those you know have yours. 2. Be grateful for sacrifices others make to benefit you; don’t take it for granted. 3. Balance your criticisms w/ confidence affirmations. Be a good person.
January 22, 2021... Good luck and best wishes to all of the Texas HS baseball players and coaches that get to fire it back up today! Long year for all of you, especially you coaches that pour so much into these young men! Go get it!
Big congratulations to
@CoachCreek10
& his
@StonyPointHS
Tiger baseball team for a huge district win tonight! 6A District, 4 or 5 sophomores start every game... and they didn’t dog pile after either. Keep breeding a culture of toughness coach!
Parents, if you’re dropping money on showcases/tournaments left & right, as they are expensive, & your player is visibly not as strong, slower & skill level is below the average player at said events, reallocating these funds towards development will better serve your athlete.
“National” labeled or level teams are teams that have proven for years, for multiple classes they can compete to win the best and biggest events in the country. Not one good class, not simply labeling their team “national.” Tip of the cap to
@TheCanesBB
for defining this.
All HS/travel coaches work hard to help their players move on to the college game. They wouldn’t be in baseball if they didn’t want their players to reach their goals. But they’re not miracle workers; player’s talent level ultimately decides where they end up, not a coach’s phone
You will never have to second guess those who truly support you. If you have any doubt, you’re probably right. It’s simple... maintain relationships that aren’t stressful. The one’s that are, leave them behind.
I was absolutely floored when the

Guy is built different. Seriously, different breed human. 2 years of JC ball, 2 DI, 40 college pumps, countless put outs, a degree in 4 years, all on his own, and debt free. Never complains, whines, or asks why not me? Just grinds. You have so much to give

Tons of travel teams, instructors, trainers w/ a + book of contacts out there these days. Fortunately college recruitment help is not limited to playing for the “best” travel club anymore. Parents/players, spend your time where developing is obvious & long term bonds are created.
Very fortunate we have players that get to compete at the highest level of amateur baseball w/ the best club in the country. Thank you

JC, D1, Pro, etc… If you’re not truly putting in the work in the cage, pen, weight room, etc, it will be short lived. At each respective “next level” everyone is as good as you. Talent gets you there, the separator that keeps you around isn’t talent, it’s work ethic.
The college recruiting landscape continues to get tougher & tougher to find a long term home. More exposure opportunities, better quality of training, and now the COVID log jam. Players are moving every semester, all levels. At this point, learn to not burn every bridge you have.
On the drive home from the

Every parent fixated on “exposure” needs to make sure their player is “exposable... otherwise, you’re kid and you yourself will be “exposed.” Decide if you want to help, not hinder your son’s dreams.

Not everyone knows what medicine to prescribe, because not everyone is a doctor. Not everyone knows how to litigate, because everyone is not a lawyer. But, apparently, everyone knows how to win a baseball game, except the coach.

Demeaning to the schools offer and the desperation for attention actually makes you look less talented. Don’t do any of this... it will help you. 👍🏽
Really enjoy watching Hank. The player I “thought” he was, is not the player he “is.” Guy attacks every hitter on the mound w/ zero care of failure… & swings the bat like there’s nothing to lose. I’d take 9 of them right now! Cannot wait to watch his future unwind.
@ActionBaseball
- 17U White’s Hank Howard (‘23, TX) showed solid command of both his FB & breaker through 4IP only letting up 3 hits & 1ER. FB topped 86 mixing in good spin for called & swing/miss strikes. Big frame w/ more room to the ceiling.
#WWBASouth
That man is at it again! + Defender at the toughest position on the field. + Arm Strength. + Hit Tool 😏. Projects + Power... Below bat speed velo; guy adjusts. Facing + Velocity; guy catches up. Body of work is undeniably there, and the projection is scary. Proud of you 🤟🏼
‘22 SS Travis Sanders (TX) jumping all over 9️⃣6️⃣ and driving this one deep into the gap for a double.
The hands really work well at the plate. Natural rhythm & ability to turn the barrel. Wiry-athletic frame w/ more strength to come.
Has impressed.

If you know you’re dependent on someone’s relationships & their ability to advocate for you (your player) you might consider keeping that person in the loop when you make decisions; loyalty, communication, advocacy are 2-way streets.

The carousel… inexperienced players w/ amazing JC opportunities, turning them down for a “4 year spot,” that will be filled by a more experienced portal player, that only opened up, because the “4 year spot” let go of the same inexperienced player. Interesting climate we’re in.
Love this. Love it because of all of the “D1” or bust mentalities. The mentalities of being famous in your hometown, and being forgotten shortly after. Big

Performers, “bandits” get it done. Heart, work ethic, character, ability to win games prolongs careers. Twitter love prolongs egos.
1 weekend of D1 and 1 month of JC baseball in the books. Take away… the 3 types of guys that will be looking for a new home end of spring: the entitled & uncoachable HS player, the ones allergic to weight rooms (grown men play at both levels), & the one’s the staff can’t trust.
No matter what jersey I’ve coached in over the last 15 years, the players wearing them all moved on to play beyond high school. Take away… it ain’t the jersey. If you’re looking for the jersey or team IG to propel you to the “next level” that itself is why you have no traction.
W/ so much information, so many resources out there today to assist a player w/ skill development, strength, speed & nutrition, the length of a career really falls on natural talent, work ethic, or a combo of both. If you’re not an outlier talent, I’d live in that cage & gym.
It’s fun to get handed a team, show up for June & July and take a couple out of town trips... But grinding it out ALL year long in the cage/bullpen & banging out endless phone calls, texts, & emails to land a guy, that’s pure joy... 🤟🏼
Stop tagging schools. Let someone else tag you and the schools. The truly good players don’t have to do that; they get tagged. Play the game, get better, make no excuses...
#gsd
The ultimate question, are you mature enough, patriotic enough, to accept and move forward in support of whoever wins this election, potential voter fraud aside. Putting personal feelings about the elected candidate to bed, are you going to give the winner a chance?

Our job is to create belief; to bring faith in one’s self. Our leadership should bring a passion to the surface and make them feel fearless in their pursuits. The end goal is not a state championship or a scholarship. The end goal is to end up on their phone under *Favorites.* 🤟🏼

To be clear part of my income is skill instruction… that said, if you’re not training the body, truly programming not just generic lifting, IDC how many hitting lessons/camps, fielding lessons/camps, pitching lessons/camps you do… you will be overlooked. Teams want warriors…

No doubt a good travel club plays a significant role in recruiting… Over selling is a recipe for disaster. Talent/ability is 1 thing; over promoting players w/ known history of hopping club to club and school to school will 9/10 times come back to haunt you… promote commitment.
If you’re sending/posting your “highlight video” you have to understand, it is in fact your highlights. What does an entire AB look like? What does your mound/plate presence say about you? What caliber opponent are you doing it against? Consider this before firing off that video.
