@Siemers_XC_TF Im sure it does go both ways. The meaning is football kids have to go out for track but then get put through āsprintā workouts that arenāt sprint anything and their time could be spent much better in preparing to be fast.

Iāve gone the other way since Covid by moving to a 4 day model. Was a huge 3d coach for 15 years but felt like i was cramming too much into days. The 4d model made it feel like I can breathe on training days now. And less high intensity has helped us more than I wouldve thought
3 Day Programs Ive become a huge fan of three day programs. For our summer business four days works better but if i was starting over Id do 3. 3 days gives us three total body days which means we can sprint, jump, throw and do lower body every day but not back to back.

And this is what makes the training process an educated best guess. Human beings are complex dynamic systems where absolutes in training are hard to find.
The holy cow is being slaughtered by @BooSchex I love the master coaches who force us all to think criticallyā¦? Specially when it is counter to the CURRENT evidence we are indoctrinated into. Is the Nordic the problem or is the hype about a panacea the issue? Do hamstrings get hurt mostly due to lacking eccentric strength (an obvious factor) or poor timing and overloaded due to poor Co contractions (possibly). @PfaffSC says āhamstring get hurt when they contract too early, too late or for too longā. When ever we make one thing the main thing in prep or injury prevention, we are almost instigating Goodhearts law. It gives us a feeling of power and control to measure something and it improve. It gives us a feeling of control when the research says , this exercises fixes this issue. What about when it doesnāt fix it? When we create principles and heuristics and use them to make decisions I think we are much closer to high performance. Do athletes need nordics or high intensity eccentrics? Should they be knee based, hip based , slow speed, fast speed or is a ātotal hip conditioningā a more holistic solution? Where is the discussion going with the research so far? Are nordics counter productive for some individuals? Should we be listening to athlete feedback on dosage and density? Is there an impact on coordination in running when hip vs knee based eccentric qualities improve ? Less strain on posture chain, Less variability in late swing phase, better pre activation of posterior chain and more economical running gate?
