There was no one you trusted more with anything Iowa, River Bandits and St. Ambrose related than Batts. He was the ultimate teammate. No matter how big or small the task was, he’d do it. And he did it gracefully.
Rest easy, Batts
Words are difficult to find this morning. Steve Batterson, a sports reporter at the Quad-City Times for 38+ years, died Tuesday afternoon. He was a consummate pro, a workhorse, a great teammate and such a kind-hearted man. He loved his job and did it very well. Rest easy, Batts.

Officially one year in the books at the Globe Gazette. It has been a blast being in North Iowa, telling stories of some of the best area athletes.
I'm not going anywhere for the foreseeable future. Some fun things are on the docket in the coming months.
Best is yet to come.
And that is what we call a wrap on a sports writing journey that started in September of 2012 and is ending in April of 2021 at the Quad-City Times.
It's been a helluva ride. This will always be my home, and I'm sure some of us will cross paths again.
Until next time, QC
