Black American Jews live a complex Jewish reality true, as do all Jews, but also a black American one -- and it is this nexus of identities that is being addressed and examined. Were there no America and/or no white supremacy, this would all be a moot point.
The adoption of US black and white race binary into the Jewish community is one of the biggest mistakes of the progressive Jewish world.
We cannot expect binary non-Jewish concepts to reflect our complex Jewish reality.
We must address our communal issues in our own terms.

This is the 24-year anniversary of when I started conversion. My Hebrew birthday is in a few days, 5760 was a leap year.
