Five Jobs I’ve had:
1. Bitch
2. Lover
3. Child
4. Mother
5. Sinner (and a saint)
I do not feel ashamed 😉..
(Apologies to anyone born after 1997 who will possibly have no clue what this tweet means)!

We called our Springer Burt (our surname is Reynolds)...we thought everyone would find it really funny when we were waiting at the Vets- they didn’t....!
Just to let you all know that Bertie passed away unexpectedly this afternoon.
He was the best dog we could ever have wished for, and my heart is utterly broken.
I’ll be off here for a while, so here’s my favourite picture of him for you all.
R.I.P. Bertie 2008-2021
Big shout out to an acquaintance tonight, who asked me why on earth anyone would want someone over 50 to talk about books as ‘surely it’s time for you to step back and let the young ones have a go now’…
Let’s just say we had a little chat about that opinion.
I wanted to thank every one who sent messages or kind words after our sad news about Bertie.
We were so touched.
I have some news too. A twist of fate happened, and this little ray of sunshine arrived to help heal our hearts.
This is Jasper, he’s 10 weeks old and we love him.
Thank you for all the birthday wishes!
You are all so lovely, thank you
Now I’m 50, Iet me give you some advice.
Always be kind.
Tell the people close to you that you love them.
Life’s too short to read books you don’t love.
Own brand almond magnums are never the same - ever.
I’m so sorry, but I’m not going to be here for a bit.
I’m not at all well, and am posting my Covid test today.
I really apologise to any publishers, publicists and authors for any reviews due at the moment, I’m just not well enough.
Be kind and be safe.
Lots of love
Clare xx
I don’t usually tweet about this, but when someone asks you how your son’s doing, and you tell them what is going on and how hard it is sometimes, telling me how fabulously your son is doing and how he is doing everything you wish your son could do is not the most helpful thing.
It’s the first time in 17, yes 17 years (that’s being a full time carer for you!), that Mr YearsofReading and I have been out together on our own at night time!
We are going to make sure we enjoy every minute - and yes of course we are having dessert..!
I wanted to let you all know, I will be stepping back from Twitter for a bit.
Yesterday, my brilliant and awe inspiring Mum passed away as she couldn’t fight lung cancer anymore.
She was an amazing Mum and Nana, my best friend, and am so proud to have been her daughter.
I just want to ask Bookish Twitter.
Am I right in thinking* that if you wake up with a cold, and it’s chucking it down with rain outside, the best medicine is absolutely sitting on your sofa under a quilt, reading a book and having coffee and biscuits?
(*will do it anyway!)
Well, this happened today, and I couldn’t be more amazed and incredibly proud.
Thank you so much to every single one of you for listening to me shout about books, it really means the world.
I am so lucky to have found such amazing people on Bookish Twitter!
Love,
Clare

Dropped my husband at a railway station today, a lady in the car in front kissed the man goodbye and went into the station too.
Thirty seconds later, she came out again, looked around, pulled her hood up and walked the opposite way..
I mean, that’s a novel right there...!
Just to say that I tested positive for Covid. It wasn’t severe, but it was awful.
Thank you so much to every person who took the time to send me a tweet or who messaged me to check how I was doing.
I can’t tell you how much it meant, and you are all truly wonderful.

I want to keep talking about this, because we need to keep talking about it, to understand and know that millions of people are quietly, without fuss or celebration, looking after someone all day every day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
I have had some lovely news, and I wanted to share it with you all.
On Monday November 1st, I’ll be on
@BBCFrontRow
to ask
@TheBookerPrizes
Shortlisted author

some questions about
#GreatCircle
I hope you can listen in!
(No pressure and am not at all worried!)
I’m going to be away for a bit due to family COVID things that are happening - I’ll post just what I’ve promised for now until I can come back all guns blazing.
Please share the Booklove for me and thank you to everyone who has sent me a book recently.
Much love

Spending my 52nd Birthday surrounded by books I’m tweeting about and reading, Thomas The Tank Engine toys, a mug of tea and a sneaky bit of chocolate (already eaten!) sums up my life perfectly!
At least I still got my Balloon Day on Twitter!

Just popping in to say, it really doesn’t matter how many books you or other people read in a year.
One book or two hundred - who honestly cares as long as reading brings you joy.
Thank you love you see you soon x

Just to let you know, I’m going to be on a social media break for a few days.
Tomorrow is the first anniversary of Mum passing away, and with Mother’s Day looming, I need to step back for a bit.
Don’t forget to
#ShareTheBookLove
and I’ll see you on Monday.
Love to you all xx
I’m just a blogger saying please don’t ask me to review a book for you and then not even acknowledge it.
I will have spent time reading it, writing the review, taking the pictures, posting it on social media and tagging everyone not to mention the RTs.
I have feelings too!
Signing off a text to the guy who is fitting our new patio door with two kisses was not the best thing today.
Only beaten by the time I sent a picture of my dessert to the decorator who had the same name as my husband with the words ‘I wish you were here to share this with me’!
Thank you so much for your lovely birthday messages, it really means such a lot at the moment.
Starting off my 53rd year as I mean to go on with the four Rs:
📚 Reading
🛀 Relaxing
💃🏻 Real Housewives
💁🏻♀️ Realising that life is still too short to read books you don’t love!
One more time for those at the back.
Just because you are a Book Blogger, it does not mean you are entitled to proofs.
If you need a book to talk about, pull one off your shelf, get one from the library or go and buy one from a bookshop.
Book blogging does not mean free books.
Has anyone ever picked up a book and not liked it, but when you pick up again another time you read and loved it?
You don’t have to say the title (unless you want to!), am just interested to see if it has happened to anyone else...!

To my fellow bloggers and people who shout about books, we are amazing at supporting authors and sharing our love of books - especially this last year.
We work so hard to talk about books and authors, and I’m proud of us and what we do for the love of reading.
Just so you know!
I was feeling a bit overwhelmed by the whole book blogging thing yesterday.
I spent some time with someone who had no clue what bookpost is, couldn’t care less what proofs are, or whether I had the latest ones, and just reads because they love it.
I’d forgotten about that.

Sometimes you need to write a blog post, and I needed to write this tonight.
Thank you all for being amazingly fabulous and supportive this year.
I couldn’t do it without you.

2. One weekend a month it’s open to the public.
3. It costs £2 to become a member.
4. This weekend, it was 70% discount per book.
5. Am suffering from a Booklove Rush!
My friend has read the Cazalet Chronicles and The Forsyte Saga, and is looking for novels about a family or families (has to be 20th century onwards apparently!).
I’ve recommended a few - before I’m the only one left here, has anyone got any ideas for me to pass on?
Thank you x
Over 2000 fab followers - am speechless!
I’ve just had my birthday, it’s nearly Christmas and you can NEVER have too many books!

Sunday will be the third anniversary of my Mum’s death, so am having a little break.
I miss her so much, and she hated having her photo taken, so I won’t post one.
Tell your Mum you love her, hug her when you can, and cherish every moment.
Have a lovely weekend xx
As a blogger this week it’s not been my best.
I don’t get paid for doing this, I am always honest about what I read and what I don’t, and please don’t claim you have read my blog when you haven’t.
All I ask is people treat me the way they would want to be treated.
Be kind.
That feeling when you are mortified as your lovely postman tells you your

had to have its own bag, but at the same time you have never felt more alive!
Just found out that my friend has been telling everyone that I am a proofreader for famous authors including Marian Keyes and Sarah Vaughan, and I had to explain that I am in fact a very lucky reader of proofs by famous authors such as Marian Keyes and Sarah Vaughan!
I started a book today I had been looking forward to and it was really not for me, so I put it down and now I can’t find anything I want to read and am now sat here staring at my bookshelves..
Does this happen to anyone else?
I dropped off two large bags of books at a charity shop today.
Gentleman in shop: Thank you - goodness me, you can’t have anything left to read!

Yes I bought six books from the charity shop this morning, no I don’t know when I am going to read them, or where on Earth I am going to put them, but it felt so good to buy them, and thank you but I won’t be taking any further questions at this time.
Goodness me!
I now have 8,000 people following my Bookish ramblings!
Thank you so much to each and every one of you.
Joining this Community is one of the best decisions I made, and you are all just fabulous and always so kind.
I think it might be time for a Giveaway soon...
How about this.
Bloggers: If you LOVE a book, talk about it, tag the author, don’t tag the author, it’s up to you!
Authors: If you want to respond do, if you don’t want to, it’s up to you too!
Our love of books is the reason we’re all here, and surely that’s all that matters..
To all my Bookish Friends, I’ve been thinking about it all this week, and wanted to say this to all of you.. (probably just me and two other people will watch it, but still!)

Just to make you all feel better, I am tweeting this from my bedroom and am claiming that I am putting away the washing.
I am not putting away the washing.
I’ve been thinking a lot about Book Blogging recently.
So I wrote this. I hope it helps, and let me know if you need me to talk about anything else - because quite frankly, Bookish People are the best! Xx
Hello Random Person on the Internet.
The reason I get sent books and proofs is because I work bloody hard to read and review them, and no, they don’t just sit on my shelves, and I am not sending them on to you to pass on to your friend thank you for asking.
My 78 year old needle hating Dad had his Covid vaccination and celebrated by buying a bottle of wine and some posh cheese! Plus some books too...
I couldn’t be prouder (and more relieved!)
@rachel_fw
Yes we did! Then wait until it was after six o’ clock to chat because the calls were cheaper, but still ran the risk of your parents tapping their wrists and tutting that you had been on for too long as they walked by!
Tomorrow morning, I have a whole morning to myself!
A whole morning to do what I want - and yes, there may be books involved..
It may not seem like much, but when you care for someone 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with no holiday, duvet days or sick days - it means a lot.
I could give you some apologetic tweet about this, but I’m 48 now and I can’t be bothered!
I wanted a cream cake, I bought a cream cake and now I’m going to enjoy every bite!
Happy Friday to me and to you all too!
From left to right.
What my Dad thinks I look like at book events.
What my kids think I look like at book events.
What I think I look like at book events.
What I actually look like at book events.
Apparently, it’s five years since I started bothering you all about books, Real Housewives and almond magnums, and I can’t think of a lovelier group of bookish people to share that with!
Thank you all for being so incredibly kind and supportive always.
#MyTwitterAnniversary
It’s coming up to the fourth year since Mum died, and I find Mothers Day still too hard, so will be back soon.
I miss my Mum so much every day.
Mum made me laugh so much, gave the best advice always, loved reading as much as I do, and I wish she was still here with me.

I just want to say;
Read what you want when you want, how you want.
Reading is reading.
Here’s to books and reading and all the joy it brings me every single day, and to all the fabulous bookish friends I’ve made who love books as much as I do.
#IAmAReader
Is there any social media platform that it is worth posting on about books and reviews any more?
Just asking for a friend - who looks and sounds just like me - well it’s me that wants to know to be honest, because I am baffled as to what to do!
Here’s a
#BookTwitter
question for you!
If you always believed you weren’t a short story person and you just read Katherine Heiny’s latest short story collection and realised that you loved it, which other short story collections should you add to your reading list?
Thank you!
I had an emotional day yesterday, at a funeral for a close friend who was an incredible lady I’ll never forget.
There are people who come in to your life just at the right time and make your world a lot better, and she was one of them.
Always tell your friends you love them.
I was very lucky to get these beautiful books for Christmas, and of course as we all know, you can never have too many books!
I am very nosy, and love to see what books other people have received!
Here’s mine, so on

I just sent an email requesting a proof and confidently told the person that I have a combined Twitter and Instagram following of 13, so that one’s definitely winging its way to me as we speak!
Now that it’s been announced on air,
I’m thrilled to say that in 2021, I’ll be appearing on

every couple of months!
We want to talk about as many books as possible, so if you have any we need to know about, please do let us know!
Mother’s Day is a bit too hard for me to deal with, so I’ll see you tomorrow.
There are a thousand things I wish I had told my Mum, but telling her how I loved her was the most important.
Tell your Mums you love them if you do, because it hurts like hell when you can’t.

Hello, random internet people, popping into my DMs, asking me how come I get proofs and if they can have mine.
MY ADVICE:
Proofs are a privilege and not a right.
No, I won’t be sending you my proofs - ever.
You don’t need proofs to be a book blogger - any book at all will do.
We never realised that one of the complications of home schooling was our Springer Spaniel Bertie trying to crash all the online lessons..
This is Bertie looking ashamed and thinking about what he has done...
I saw my Dad and family in person for the first time in two years today for Dad’s 80th birthday, and it was perfect.
There’s nothing like a cuddle from your Dad.
