A current Film/TV trope I’m bored of is the “hyperviolent shootout accompanied by ironically cheery music” cliche. Contemporary screenwriters seem to really have a boner for it. There’s always a new clip of some anti-hero going Guardians of the Galaxy-style on a group of baddies.

@RockettPowered It’s fine for individual authors to contemplate but I don’t think publishers should mandate it, only cos it can jostle authors who have historically connected with one demographic really well, taking them out of their element to appease a new group they don’t understand as well.
