@iromg
of being a Walt 🙄
Max senior collapsed this morning. His legs finally gave up on him. Sadly I’ve had to make “that” decision. With him unable to lift his own weight and complete incontinence I decided it was time. I held his head and made sure we had eye to eye contact as he slipped away. Gutted😢
@DannyShawBBC
Let her know that me and six other explosives search dogs and handlers made redundant by her local force due to her policies are available..
Bloody hell life can be shit at times. I’ve just discovered that it was the Funeral today of yet another colleague taken before his time. A good dog handler gifted photographer and really great bloke. No more pain Gary, rest in peace mate.
I come down to this most mornings. I feel so sorry for the old boy. He poops in his sleep and can’t help it. He looks like this until I tell him its ok. I’ve had him for 12 of his 14yrs yet he’s never forgotten the treatment he received before I got him.
“Spend £20 on a draught excluder for the box at the rear of the kennel” they said. “Draught excluders are good at excluding draughts” they said “it’ll keep Max Junior warm” they said.
“Meet Max junior” I said......
Summer of 2010, Max senior (aged 2) from Battersea dogs home Old Windsor where he was overlooked as he was frightened and defensive, to passing an 8 week explosives search course with me and a chance to relax and finally begin to trust people.
Well after a few scares over the last couple of months, Grandaughter 2 has arrived! Still two weeks early (good job looking at the size of her 😂) mum and baby doing well! Grandad chuffed to bits 😃
Senior was ill treated as a pup and although I’ve had him for nearly 12 yrs he still gives this ‘I didn’t mean it please don’t hit me’ look. He’s a bit incontinent now and that look tells me he’s had an accident overnight. He’s hidden it under the cushion he’s lying on bless him
Happy birthday to meee happy birthday to meee happy birthday to meeeeeee happy birthday to me!
11yrs old today and still working as well as ever😃.
Actually being an ex rescue dog (battersea dogs home old Windsor 2009) birthday is a guesstimate but hey who cares😃
Sad news this morning RPD Roxy (aged 14)one of two survivors of my old unit (senior being the other) has passed away. Lovely dog she was always trying to Nick a ball from seniors mouth. Senior being senior always let her. Roxy’s handler is gutted
This time 76years ago my Dad was making his way through the backstreets of Arnhem towards the river bridge. He would spend the next three days fighting for his life in the Limburg van Stirum School at Arnhem bridge before running out of ammunition, the school destroyed by tank
Happy birthday to me! 🎉🎊 14 years young today! Well…. Probably….as a Battersea dogs home rescue not quite sure but definitely not younger so we just picked a day!
Worrying times, my daughter is 7 months pregnant. There have been a few problems keeping the baby. This morning her waters partially broke, now in hospital had a few injections to help baby’s lungs. Nervously awaiting updates…… 🙏🙏
Happy 15th (ish) birthday to dear old senior!
I say ‘ish’ as he was a rescue from Battersea dogs home (Old Windsor) with no dob. Vet reckoned ‘about two’ when I got him in early 2010. We donated to him a birthday in January. A lovely gentleman who I hope will go on a lot longer
Last Wednesday senior was unable to walk, I carried him into the vet he was shaking, dribbling and throwing up. I thought I wouldn’t see him again. After a week of ups and downs his character and health are back to almost normal. Just his appetite that needs rekindling 😃
My OH’s sister passed away overnight, she wasin an induced coma. OH and her brother have gone round to break the news to their 90yr old Mum. She leaves behind a husband two adult daughters and a grandchild. Bless you Sara two years of hell and pain are over, may you rest in peace
How the hell does he do it? Senior fast asleep in the garden. I get a snack from the kitchen I can see he is still asleep. I sneak into lounge and sit down, within 10 secs in walks senior. Every. Single. Time. It’s bloody spooky if I’m honest 😂😂
I know this is tempting fate but can’t resist. Senior has had solid poos for two days straight! First time for 3 months 😃. The incontinence has also stopped (apart from the odd willy dribble).
Perhaps this tweet is more for dog handlers rather that normal people.....😂
My sweet little new born granddaughter is having to have blood tests today. Midwife has pointed to something that if correct will have lifelong implications for her and the family. I obviously want tests to be negative but if not she will always have all the love & help she needs
Good deed done today, at Aldi check out I was behind an old lady in the queue. Her bill came to £51.60 but when she counted out her change she had just under £50. She didn’t want me to help her bless her, but I insisted, and in no time we had all her shopping back on the shelves.
This pic of senior has just appeared in my memories. It’s exactly how he was looking at me as the life left those big brown eyes forever. It’s made me shed a tear I don’t mind admitting…..
3 years ago today I had to have my retired explo dog Alfie pts. He was a dear old boy who lived to almost 17. An excellent search dog with eyes that could see into your soul. Rest easy my friend. Locals called him the scruffiest police dog in Berkshire 😂
This has just popped up on my FB feed. 13 years ago senior and I had just passed our Explosives search course. 10 weeks before he was in Battersea Dogs Home a confused wary 2yr old. He trusted me immediately (almost) took a few weeks to realise not all ppl are bad. I miss him!
Always feel a little sad when Senior is in the garden fast asleep and instead of my first thought being ‘bless him’ it’s ‘is he breathing’ 🥲 (yes he is in case you’re wondering…..😂)
Very worried about Max senior. He’s had a delicate back for many years but it’s only occasionally been a problem he’s a very powerful lad Suddenly this morning his hips are all over the place. He’s still his normal happy self but something major has happened. Vets 6pm for exam 😢
This popped up in my memories on FB. 2009 dear old Alfie my Police EDD. A lovely affectionate nutcase who was very good at his job. Retired in 2010 age 10 and had a happy 6 year retirement. He was a one off!
Well! At 3.15 this morning ‘someone’ who shall remain nameless, drove 1h 20mins to East London to discover the place of work is shut. Because it’s a BANK HOLIDAY!! Tw@……..🤦♂️
I’m still new to this game so driver has been telling me since day one be professional act in a dignified manner at all times. No messing about in public.. be professional...be professional.. just when I think I’ve cracked it a switch flips in what they laughingly call my brain
Took himself off into the garden to sit in the sun for 10mins. His walking is very ‘doddery’ but as yesterday I had to carry him into the vets I’ll settle for that!
Walking home from town loaded with shopping. I notice an ARV pulling up alongside, window rolls down and a voice says “Oi Padders you oId bastard! Wanna lift?”
Didn’t think there was anyone left in the old bill who knew me!
lift home cost me a pack of 4 Apple puff pastries 😂
Now that I’m precisely 38 days old, I’ve decided I will make serious attempts and holding my head up without wobbling! (Not there yet but someone is already an independent little madam😂😂)
After 10 days in kennels the boys are back. Junior has, as predicted, lost his voice. He also had the raging hump with me for an hour after I picked him up 😂 sulky not shirty.
Senior is knackered after ‘helping’ the kennel staff each day, they all loved him.
My son has received his thank you for working 12-14 hours a day all through the pandemic. He said he’d prefer a decent pay rise but beggars can’t be choosers 😂😂
Dear old Max has been trembling a bit tonight no idea why just seems to happen sometimes, it’s quiet and he’s not cold. Anyway I’ve put his big drying coat on him and he’s settled down now.
Poor old Max senior forgot himself just now. He ran into the garden instead of his usual trot. His front legs couldn’t keep up and he nosedived into the grass. He’s fine but it was obvious it hurt his pride bless him.
“Get in the van” you said so I did! You didn’t say “get in the cage in the van”. If that’s what you wanted you should BE MORE SPECIFIC! So difficult to get the staff these days 🙄
Off to see Grandaughter today.
8am phone call “GRANDAD, WHERE ARE YOU? WHEN WILL YOU BE HERE?? My daughter says all her toys are spread out waiting for me to see…. 😂😂
Whilst I appreciate the raw chicken you left out for me the other day, (enjoyed the gymnastics required to get it btw). it appears you’re now eating nicely cooked gammon steak, I prefer nicely cooked gammon steak if I’m honest…..
Two good signs today. He’s happily snoozing in the sun. See the tennis ball? He’s gone to a place in the house where he’s not allowed, broken into a box and stolen it! I couldn’t be more pleased 😀 and secondly........
Another handler at a different gate has just searched a large truck full of bread. His spaniel came joyfully running back to him from the depth of the load and presented him with a large scone….. junior of course would never do that…. He’d scoff it first!
Well...... I have a mole on my back which has turned into something else. Doc wants a photo I’ve tried selfies but doc says not in focus enough. Christ I’m not double jointed! So got neighbour to do it with a selfie stick while I stand topless in the bloody street! 🙄🤦♂️
Brought in a Pannetone for the lads at work to celebrate birth of Grandaughter. Now bear in mind most are rough and ready East End boys. Couple of them had a short conversation
“Wassat then?”
“It’s pancetta innit ya facking peasant!”
After lots of heavy tweets thought I’d lighten the mood. Junior being junior and showing total professionalism while waiting to start a search.......🤔😂
Dear old Max senior is off to the vets first thing in the morning. Having an ultrasound scan to see if we can find out what gives him such regular tummy issues. Not keen on him having general anaesthetic but run out of options. Strong ❤️& lungs so fingers crossed.
A large number of my friends have had their 1* reviews of Lush removed by Facebook. All such reviews Lush are reporting as suspicious or hacked posters and fb are locking accounts. So much for your ‘ethics’ and freedom of speech eh
@LushLtd
? Bloody hypocrites RT this please
Put quite a long and difficult search out for Junior today this is the final part. He’s looking for one cigarette filter with the scent of explosives on it. It’s in a container so there’s no cross contamination. He worked hard! 😃
Update on Grandaughter. She has been thoroughly examined by two paediatricians separately. They disagree with the midwife’s assessment she has none of the physical characteristics of the condition. Decided against blood test as a lot of blood needed and would be traumatic for an
First time in over a year that senior has wanted to climb the stairs, admittedly it’s a slow process but at the end even managed an illegal jump onto the bed! I think coming downstairs on those dodgy legs of his might give me heart failure though 😂
fire they tried to escape but captured by German SS troops. He lost a number of close friends and the experience played on his mind for the rest of his life.
It boils my blood when I see people whining about wearing a mask. They have no idea what freedom means. Miss you Dad
As the daft old bugger insists on spending most of the day laying in his favourite spot in a cold back garden, I’ve tried to make it a bit less cold and damp (not that he cares 🙄)
My son works in an emergency services call centre. Last week he had a person commit suicide as he was talking to them on the phone. Obviously dreadful for the victim and family. One thing needs to be remembered, it’s not l great for my son either. He’s ‘ok’ about it now luckily
