Eagerly looking forward to seeing Yamamura Koji's 'Dozens of Norths' for the second time this year. One of the most interesting viewing experiences. Atmospheric Bosch-like film - Full of cryptic, grotesque, and at the same time hilarious imageries.

Yes, even during the earliest stages! It is slowly becoming my favourite tool to use. It is a delight to see other people use it too!

The canvas texture peeking through is a soft pastel brush, used for softening during sketching. During and after I use basic square brush, draw the shape and scratch it, faking a pencil scratch texture. But sometimes I just lasso and fill. The sprinkle dots were added at the end.

I tend to feel like that when I'm too focused on one thing or my routine gets too stale. I'm not saying take a break, but try to find something else to do or think about throughout the day so your brain gets busy and has some variety. "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy."

I do want to convey the darkness but I still wish to maintain the clarity in it. But I think during daytime or just in average lighting conditions some parts may be just impossible to see?

I love the grays you put in the darkest parts! It seems very irrational to think of coloring it that way, but it adds way more depth than a darker color could.

I used it alongside a square brush and some other ones. I’d say at least a third of the work was done with a lasso. For me, it became incredibly efficient and fun to use once I got used to the hotkeys.

One brush from procreate is still present here but any light grunge brush should do. Otherwise, it's just two brushes from photoshop I modified. I never shared them since there is nothing special about them, but I can send them to you personally if you wish.

Thanks! I'm still trying to figure out how to describe it but I'm starting to realize that the more I try to obstruct people and draw things in the wrong order, colors, and shapes, the more fun it becomes. And I think that stylization is not the word I’m looking for.

You've probably already thought about the following, but maybe if you try to accept the unfinished look instead and try to ration the complete vs. unfinished you could achieve something really good. Either way, I hope you find your way out of this uncomfortable feeling.
