It's been a little over a year since my mom passed suddenly in her sleep. I brew my coffee to this picture every morning. Thinking of you, Mom. I love and miss you so. Thanks for being a guiding light every day even since you passed. 🙏
Officially making occasional visits to Boston to live out a life long dream of working in my hometown as a freelance meteorologist at WBZ Channel 4. Couldn't be happier. Couldn't be more excited. See you on TV Thanksgiving Day!

A personal moment to share: Many, many months have gone by since I have seen my Mom, my only parent since my Dad passed some 2.5 yrs ago. We hadn't seen each other since about 6 months after Dad passed and the start of the pandemic. Celebrating good health and reunion.
Just a quick tweet to let everyone know that I'm okay. I miss TV, but am grateful to be on the radio in
#ROC
. The death of my Mom has challenged and consumed me on many levels. I promise I'll be back with more weather tweets soon!
More than a mom. She was my strength, guide, the person who I could always turn to no matter what the circumstances. A tower of truth, faithful & devoted to her family. And now she's gone on to be with my Dad. Rest in peace Mommy. Life just won't be the same without you.
I've lived in coastal New England, went to school in Northern Vermont, and have seen many a lake effect event in the 22 years I've been in Rochester. Never have I seen such a ferocious lake effect snow event as this with intense snow rates & relentless 70 mph wind gusts.
#Buffalo
#WNY
needs to be prepared for a long duration, high impact lake effect snow event that really gets going Thursday night and lasts, potentially, into Mon AM. Broad ranges in snow totals should be expected, but strong likelihood exists of needing a yardstick to measure it in spots.
Happy to announce that I will be back on TV in Western NY starting on Monday. I'll be freelancing here and there at WIVB News 4 in Buffalo. So great to be able to return to what I love to do!

Back in Massachusetts. I couldn't quite face staying in my childhood home alone tonight until my brother arrives tomorrow. Then we begin the difficult process of "deconstructing" a life. So...a pond near the house, a Marriott, and a beverage will do for now to unwind.
Lighting the candles on my Mom's menorah for the first time since she passed was very emotional this evening, but the tradition carried on from our childhood home to mine. To those marking the holiday, Happy Hanukkah!
2022 will now go into the books as the SNOWIEST calendar year
#Buffalo
has seen since at least 1939, beating out both 1977 and 1985, both years of which are famous for their blizzards.

Today is a special day for me as I complete 19 years in Rochester TV & radio as a meteorologist and move on to my 20th year! Grateful to be able to continue to serve this community. Thanks for welcoming into your homes every day...despite the deepening forehead lines! 😆

Good morning, Rochester. I've missed you but I've been busy taking care of this guy. This is my Dad who lives in MA & he means the world to me & my family. He's in the hospital battling multiple issues. He needs good vibes in his fight and so do I on this Thursday.
#ROC
Perhaps I'm crazy...(don't answer that)....but has anyone else noticed more birds chirping? Is it that all of us are home more to notice them or is it that the amount of human activity outside has declined so much that there are either more of them or that they are heard more?
Said goodbye to my childhood home today in Easton, MA packing a cargo van with what was left after my sale to take back to Rochester. Saw my Mom's tea roses that she loved. They reminded me of the joy and love of our home. Holding on dearly to the memories while looking ahead.
Today, Mom, we would be celebrating your birthday. I'm so glad we got to be together last year to mark it with joy and laughter. The single candle lit today next to our picture is for you, symbolic of the light, energy & love you brought to this world. Love you forever, Mom.
It's looking less and less likely that significant lake effect snow will materialize during the holiday. This is why posting snowfall projections 6 days in advance of a potential is not my jam. Good news for those traveling for sure!

Had the pleasure of anchoring this evening on
@WKBW
with
@lialandotv
, my friend, and once again, for the THIRD time, my colleague in TV news. We anchored together in Rochester at two other stations. Here's to many more shows together here in Buffalo!
Home in Massachusetts to be with my Mom on this very first Father's Day since his passing. A single yellow rose from her garden graces the table with its beauty but his chair at the table for our morning coffee is empty. Bittersweet, but glad to be home this weekend.

Shining proudly in the window of my apartment. The first night of Hanukkah always brings back so many wonderful memories. Warm memories of family, latkes, music. And...love. Lots of love.. If you celebrate this joyous holiday...Happy Hanukkah! 🕎
22 years ago this week, I began my career as a TV & radio meteorologist in Rochester NY. It's been quite a journey. I've loved & continue to love every minute of it! Here's a throwback to 2000 and a still of me today
@7news
. Proud to continue to serve
#WNY
with its weather needs!
I'm in my hotel room downtown in
#Buffalo
. It's a steady windblown snow and everything is covered. Restaurants have shut down early. Roads are closing. Hunkered down for the evening. Will stay close with reports in the days and nights ahead.
Home....sweet home. First time I have seen my apartment in
#ROC
since Thursday of last week just before hunkering down for the storm. Looking forward to sleeping in my own bed tonight!
Refusing to be trapped by travel bans, I set out for Rochester on side roads from Buffalo at 1145pm. Passed half a dozen cars & trucks in the ditch on 33. 2.25 hours to get home but I'm back safe! Now excuse me while I sip my "tea". 😅 What a storm! Stay safe everyone!

I'm 100% wearing red this evening. Sadly, this is what took my Mom. She passed in her sleep, never knowing she had an issue. Miss her every single day.
My grandmother's menorah. Passed down to my mom. Passed down to me. The lights or Hanukkah are the continuation of the miracle long ago and glow with promise for the future. A little light drives out a lot of darkness.

When your Mom in Boston hears on the phone that you've got a cold and sends you a handwritten note along with a bag of cough drops. She's going through her own stuff yet still takes the time. I'm a lucky son.
#family
As tensions in the world escalate, I turn to my faith and family. Finding myself missing my Mom tonight who passed in her sleep in May of last year. This candle is in honor of your memory, Mom.
This is the Mazuzah that stands proudly on my doorpost. Affixed there to fulfill G-d's will that His Word is on the gates and doorposts of a home. I stand with my Jewish brothers and sisters against violence and hatred and pray that America... can do better.
THREAD: Every day I get on I-90 to head to
#Buffalo
& back to
#Rochester
, I say a prayer for my safety. Last night exiting 90 to 490, a pickup truck tailed me & passed me on the right, almost hitting a merging car. The truck swerved into the rest lane, nearly toppled, & sped off.
Enough with loud trucks, bikes, off-roaders in the Park Ave neighborhood of
#ROC
& every spot in our area handling the same. And no noise ordinance enforcement on the City's part? You're part of the problem turning a blind eye. Shame on those in charge. Disturbance of peace.
This is the spot. The spot where my meteorological interests blossomed. My little alcove in my room. Weather records on the top shelf. Cloud chart and maps to the left. And a plexiglass hurricane tracking chart with barometer. Many hours spent here in my teens and 20s.

There are not too many people in this world that I can say I've been connected with for nearly 25 years. These two gentlemen are part of that club. Thanks for being amazing colleagues in weather and friends for the entirety of the time!

Enjoyed some time in Buffalo yesterday on the eve of my birthday at the Curtiss Hotel downtown and the Michael Buble concert. Some amazing weather yesterday and today. Thank you for the birthday wishes! 44 years around the sun!
I was sorting through some of my Dad's things at home. Found the silk handkerchief he would wear when performing, playing guitar on stage in the 60s & 70s with his band. I realized it matched a tie my Mom gifted me years ago. Tonight, I figured I'd wear both in their memory. ❤️
Proud to work with my friend and colleague
@john_kucko
on the Noon broadcast today as we celebrate the Fourth...and...his 30th anniversary on the air in

! An honor to work with you my friend! Cheers!
Got the band back together for a little lunch. Loved working with these guys for almost 16 years. Great seeing you

If you told me last year that finding this in an old travel bag today would be more valuable than finding $20 in a pair of jeans I would have laughed at you. Well...fast forward to 2020!
18 years ago yesterday I made my first appearance on Rochester's airwaves. The lines in my forehead are deeper now, and I'm not twenty-something, but the passion for what I do and our

Took the liberty of lighting our station 🕎 to mark the first night of Hanukkah. Mine will have to wait until I get home. To all who are celebrating...may this Festival of Lights be the warmest and brightest ever for you and yours!

Tried walking to the hotel downtown

in all the gear. Not a far distance. Was taken down by the near hurricane force wind gusts once. Whiteouts and the tenacity of the wind just too much so I'm spending the night at work. See you in the morning for live cut-ins on

Can't stop thinking about my Dad today who would've turned 81 today. Gone now 5 years. He was more than just my father: He was my rock, my inspiration, and... my friend. His last words to me were "Son, keep going. Just keep going." Here's to you, Dad. I'll keep going.
Just receiving word that the permanent vase I ordered to be installed at Sharon Memorial for my parents was installed. They passed within 3 years of each other. Going through a range of emotion but delighted. May your memories forever be for a blessing Mom and Dad. ❤️
A very happy birthday to
@wxbywilliams
! We had a great run together working side by side on TV for 15 years. Grateful, Kevin, that you brought me to
#ROC
and grateful we can still collaborate on all things meteorological! Make it a great day!🎂
What a furiously flaky start to the winter for

Made it to the Massachusetts coast and Nantasket Beach for a brief stay at a hotel and to soak in some salt air and seaside time. A long awaited moment in this crazy year.

Thank you for all the nice birthday wishes today. Still have the reddish blonde hair and the same big smile when I see cake. The cake now just has a few more candles. 🤣
On the first night of Hanukkah a traditional blessing is recited giving thanks to G-d for being kept alive, preserved, and able to reach this season. These candles truly are a light into the darkness of a tough year. Remembering the miracles He has wrought. Happy

Mom loved tasteful flower arrangements. So I had some sent to her in honor of what would have been her 79th birthday this Sunday. To think it was only 2 years ago we laughed, dined, & sang to her at Morton's in Boston. It was also the last time i saw her. Love you forever, Mom.
More than my Mom. She was my friend, my confidant, & my biggest supporter. I miss you every day, Mom, especially today, but I'm also remembering what you said to me just a few days before you passed unexpectedly, and am comforted. "Love knows not the bounds of time."

All three menorahs are on this evening shining light from my spot in

on the fifth night. If there is darkness in our "place," then that is where we must bring our light.

The house I'm staying in has a rescue dog from the South that is nothing but love for this guest in Boston. All she wants are tummy rubs. And now she's falling asleep next to me. Her name is "Mischief". Thanks for the welcome, Mischief! See you on

So very sad to hear about the passing of Mish Michaels, a Boston meteorologist who brought light, a wealth of knowledge and an energy and passion to her work that stood out in such exemplary fashion. May your memory forever be a blessing Mish. RIP.
Many of you know I lost my Dad this January. One of our favorite traditions was to catch this spectacle every August. It'll be tough not having him around this year, but I'll sitll be watching & thinking of him with every shooting star that falls.
Received a startling early am call from an old friend who's not doing well. Take time for your mental health, and while you're at it, take time to think of & care for others who may be coping with issues that affect their mental health. Talk to them if you can.

One more thought: My other prayer? That one day we will have Roads with drivers who are defensive, but defensive about their own safety, obedient of the rules of the road, and consider others. I shouldn't have to fear for my life every time I hit the highway.
At work but so very distracted and sad over the loss of my dear friend Capp. He was the grandfather I never had. R.I.P. old friend. There will always be a special place in my heart for you.
