Make no mistake - we are also incredibly angry. We stand with
@RSPBEngland
in calling out the unprecedented attack on nature launched by UK Government over the last few days. We’ll be challenging this together and asking for our supporters to stand with us.
⚠️😡Make no mistake, we are angry. This Government has today launched an attack on nature. We don’t use the words that follow lightly. We are entering uncharted territory. Please read this thread. 1/13
We are dismayed, disappointed, and deeply concerned. UK Gov has just approved the use of a banned pesticide so powerful; a single teaspoon could kill 1.25 billion bees. This is a huge mistake. If we want to

Join us today in wishing Sir David Attenborough the happiest of birthdays! 🎂
Thank you for everything you've done for The Wildlife Trusts and for our natural world 💚
We face an urgent nature and climate crisis. But instead of a plan for nature's recovery on land and at sea, the UK Government is pursuing a dangerous agenda of deregulation that puts the very laws protecting wildlife at risk. But what does this mean exactly? (1/12)
The Government have gone against their own advisors and approved the use of bee-killing pesticides in England. This decision is catastrophic for our pollinators and will ultimately lead to the harm of wildlife ❌ 🐝 🚩
Happy Birthday to the incredible Sir David Attenborough! Over the years Sir David has been an incredibly supportive friend of The Wildlife Trusts, we hope you have a fantastic day! 🐝 🌼 🦔
Happy 98th birthday to Sir David Attenborough, a true hero of our time. 🎉
Our President Emeritus, thank you for everything you have done for conservation, our natural world, and for inspiring us all. 💚
Bees, butterflies and birds all benefit from grass grown long. We need to see less mowing of our roadside verges. RT if you'd love to see grass allowed to grow 🌱

During winter, as dusk arrives, starlings set off for their roosts in one of the most staggering natural spectacles. Flocks arrive from all directions and take on incredible shapes, contracting & expanding in the sky💙

Today’s a big day – beavers are officially recognised as a native and protected species in England! Beavers are brilliant natural engineers and amazing at restoring wetlands – it is vital they are protected! (1/5)
Have you ever heard of the amazing elephant hawk-moth? 🦋
This extraordinary creature got its name because the caterpillar looks a little like an elephant's trunk 💗

Protect our pollinators! 🐝
UK Gov has approved the use of a banned pesticide, a decision which will be disastrous for our bees, our wildlife, and our wellbeing.

This tiny spider was captured by photographer, Macro.Paul - it lives in his office and often comes to visit him at his desk. This little guy looks incredible once you see him down the lens! Anyone else think he's quite cute? 🕷️🕸️🖤

!🌻🌼 There’s no denying that wildlife meadows are incredible!😍 Sadly we have lost 7.5 million acres of meadows and flower-rich grasslands since 1930s!😱 Help us raise awareness of this essential habitat – share your meadow photos and stories below!🐝👇
UK Gov has just confirmed complete ban on horticultural
#peat
will not come into effect until 2030. A huge disappointment considering the destruction of our irreplacable peatland habitats should have been outlawed long ago. More info here 👉
On average:
5 daisies 🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼
2 dandelions 🌼🌼
6 buttercups 🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼
Are enough to keep one bee happy for one day! 🐝
It's not much - but if we want a lot of bees we need a lot of flowers! Let your grass grow this month and look after pollinators.

Great news for badgers this week!! We are delighted to see that the Government is phasing out culls and that these will be replaced by badger vaccination. There is robust scientific evidence to prove that badger vaccination reduces the transmission of bTB in badgers 🦡💚😊
Pine martens are mostly found in the north of the UK, particularly Scotland. They prefer woodland and often live in tree holes, old squirrel dreys or old birds' nests!

“We are one coherent ecosystem - it’s not a just question of beauty or interest or wonder, it’s the essential ingredient. The essential part of human life is a healthy planet” - Sir David Attenborough 🌎

1 in 4 adults experience a mental health disorder including anxiety and depression. A great way to help is to get outdoors. It's proven that being in wild places and connected with nature improves our mood and increases our sense of self-worth. 🌳😊
Exciting news!! Pine martens have been reintroduced to England for the first time following near extinction! The aim is to establish a population in the Forest of Dean 😊

Who has been letting dandelions grow in their garden? They’re sources of early nectar for bees, so resist digging them out. Share your photos 👇🌱🌼🌞☺️

Devoted gannets 💕
Photographer Steve Race spotted this pair on the Yorkshire coast. Often male gannets will offer their partner a feather or a blade of grass as a gift. On this occasion these two went a step further with a romantic necklace of red campion.
