@mdsofl @DudespostingWs When skiers go off route into the backcountry, it’s widely encouraged to carry a GPS beacon, extra food/supplies, a shovel and any other sort of avalanche gear in case of emergency. Most mountains cannot fully mitigate avalanche risk.

@rokkomicsusa @DudespostingWs Not staged. As an experienced skier, I’ve almost gotten stuck in a tree well. It’s exactly like quicksand. You’re supposed to remain calm and still to create a bubble of air to maintain breathing. If you panic, you get sucked down quicker
