Years ago 50 Cent strolled by my record label office and stopped to look at the photos on the wall. They were prints I made from my time in India and he asked if they were taken in Madurai, which blew my mind since it was not the most obvious city to guess, but the correct one.
All 100 diptychs of my series "30 Days of Walking in Amsterdam" commissioned by
@obscuradao
, shot on bulk-rolled double x cinema film with a 1964 Olympus Pen-F half-frame camera. All diptychs created in-camera, no editing.
Alright
#tedlasso
fans, do your thing. First look at the behind the scenes photos when Jason Sudeikis and Brendan Hunt made a surprise guest appearance on stage at
@BoomChicago
. All shot on
@KodakProFilmBiz
tri-x and portra 400.
I've been working on the largest commission I’ve had the pleasure of being part of. Alongside some of my fave photographers incl

, Mark Steinmetz & A. Sanguinetti. I'm contributing to
@obscuradao

@fauxrealist
I didn’t ask him about those specific things but we chatted a bit about my trip there and I mentioned I was kind of shocked he recognized it since there weren’t even any landmarks in the pictures and he found that amusing haha
I tested the brand new
@Kodak
Pro Gold 200 film for medium format. Check out the images and my thoughts here (spoiler alert, love it more than Portra)

For the next issue of Process I'm digging in the archives and telling the story of my time with food legend Phila Hach. Her words that day and the shoot itself changed my life. So excited to share this story, here's a preview. Sign up to receive, free:
Two years ago I started Process, my newsletter about photography and finding your voice. It’s become my favorite way to share work and lessons learned.
Issue 1 was about a special day when I visited and photographed Bruce Davidson in his home & darkroom.
“Why can’t someone produce a new analog camera in 2022!?! How hard can it be?”
Leica: “We are bringing back our high end flagship analog range finder!”
“Too expensive! Only for rich posers!”
Reto: “We are introducing a new half frame camera!”
“Ugh crap plastic bad boo!”
Such a great time with the cast of
@BoomChicago
and special guests

and
@jasonsudeikis
last night. Improv at the higher level. Just sent off five rolls of film to my lab from the pre-show, intermission, and after party. But here’s a digi.
When I bought my Pentax 67ii in 2018 and shot my first roll I immediately felt like I "came home" to this camera. It was an instant click, it understood me and I understood it.
This first ever roll was a test with some portraits of my wonderful studiomates at

Serious answer, adult adhd occurs more frequently in the male population and is also over represented in the creative population, and driving a car is more likely to be more challenging for people with adhd than for those who don’t have adhd.

Portraits of creative people in their work space is my favorite type of work to make. This is Mac Premo, artist and director in Brooklyn shot on the Pentax 67ii and Kodak TMax. I wrote about my approach to environmental portraits here:
I got to take a few snaps on a friend’s Leica Q2 Monochrome and the degree to you can crop in and stay sharp is insane.
1. Original shot at 8k pixels wide
2. Crop 2k pixels wide
3. Crop 1k pixels wide
BTS shot from last Monday when

and I tested a NEW medium format color film. All will be revealed in the next issue of Process, my newsletter about photography and finding your voice + GIVEAWAY of this film. Sign up to get it in your inbox tmrw:

Bryan is making some of my favorite large format work out right now, and his YouTube videos have short film like qualities of storytelling and use of music too.
This Sunday's issue of Process is about the absurd amount of rolls I shot with Isabella in Mexico City and what happens when there's an immediate creative click between sitter and photographer that doesn't require any words.

I love imagining online behavior transposed into the real world and how actual people would respond.
Imagine walking around Manhattan saying “Good morning!” to everyone and flashing a photo you took in front of their face. How many people until you get a smack upside the head?
Shot a quick test roll to make sure my new Hasselblad back didn't have light leaks. Walked around my neighborhood during a 20 minute window when the sun came out. Shot on Kodak Tmax 400. No leaks!
I’m really proud of the fact that I show up every week and manage to publish another issue of Process.
113 issues
150,000+ words
1200+ images
all my photography lessons learned
Thanks for reading y’all, would love a retweet to grow the community behind ❤️
I just published the 100th issue of my newsletter Process, a big milestone for me. I wish I could link you here but this website won’t allow it (link in bio tho)
My latest for
@lensculture
is an interview with Ukraine-based photographer
@ZaetsEvgeniy
and his new project searching for meaning in his current surroundings. Beautiful work.
AI Photography seems to me a misnomer. Wouldn’t it be better described as AI Photo Illustration? It involves no lens and no light.
Photo Illustration is an art form that has long existed and AI gives it a computer power up.
If we can agree on this we fix 90% of the controversy.
Shout out to my friends at
@flipgrid
who helped make it possible for me to change how Process readers submit for weekly Giveaways from written answers to personal community facing short videos. I'm glowing watching these come in from all over the world <3
Had a great chat about photo book making with the fine folks at
