🚨🚨ON THE LATEST DETAILS RE: THE SECRET SERVICE CONCERNS ABOUT THE IRANIAN THREAT TO TRUMP: Last fall, I was one of a very limited number of journalists publicly raising deep concerns about the threat of specific Iranian assassination attempts against Donald Trump. I was basing that concern on the FBI arrest of Asif Merchant, a Pakistani citizen who had traveled to Iran, on July 12 for plotting to assassinate Trump and trying to hire people to do it. Merchant's arrest came the day before the July 13th assassination attempt against Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania. It was also based on the FBI's "proffer" interview of Merchant in which Merchant admitted to meeting with an IRGC contact in Iran to discuss specific assassination plots against Trump and how much Secret Service protection he had, and such details as whether they should lose a rifle or a handgun, etc. .@ChuckGrassley released that proffer, deeply upsetting the FBI in the process. (I'll include some of the info I was reporting in subsequent links to this post.) Very few journalists followed up on the specific threats I was raising re: the proffer -- both in print and on television. Now, Alex Eisenstadt of Axios, @axiosalex, is following up with details on just how real the Secret Service was taking those Iranian threats. I included his information from his upcoming book, below: The kicker from @axiosalex's upcoming book -- The Secret Service was so concerned about Iran using drones to murder Trump that it opened up a moonroof and shot down a drone following Trump's motorcade. "During a trip to Pennsylvania the next week, Secret Service agents noticed a drone following Trump's motorcade. Officers in one of the cars opened up the moonroof and shot it with an electromagnetic gun, disabling it."
