COP29 will be remembered as the start of a new era on climate finance. The EU will continue to lead. This COP delivered an ambitious and realistic goal and an increased contributor base. With these funds and this structure, we are confident we’ll reach the $1,3 trillion.

Zeer verdiend. Een must read voor iedereen die van geschiedenis houdt of wil begrijpen waarom de Lage Landen zijn wat ze zijn. En er zijn er maar weinig die zo aanstekelijk kunnen schrijven over wat een razend complexe periode uit onze geschiedenis is, als @bartvanloo.
Wat een eer! Een gouden schouderklop uit Nederland voor mijn boeken, mijn zaalshows, mijn podcasts. Met speciale vermelding van mijn Bourgondische ontginning van de geschiedenis van de Lage Landen. Ik krijg even geen woorden van de grond.

It's a truly unfortunate development that the world’s largest economy, and one of our closest allies in the fight against climate change, is withdrawing from the Paris Agreement.
All continents will have to deal with the growing burden of climate change. Its impact is impossible to ignore. The Paris Agreement continues to be humanity’s best hope. Europe will stay the course. And we’ll keep working with all nations that want to stop global warming.

The Paris Agreement has strong foundations and is here to stay. While setting ambitious goals, the Paris Agreement will continue to enable each of its Parties to design its own pathway to reach those goals, and to enjoy the benefits of multilateral cooperation it provides.
