COP29 will be remembered as the start of a new era on climate finance. The EU will continue to lead. This COP delivered an ambitious and realistic goal and an increased contributor base. With these funds and this structure, we are confident we’ll reach the $1,3 trillion.

Comprehensive discussion today with 🇮🇹 Minister @adolfo_urso. On the day of the Competitiveness Compass, we had a timely discussion on the upcoming Clean Industrial deal. We also talked about the future of the automotive sector and the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism.

I had a constructive meeting with Yves Rannou, acting CEO of @suez. We exchanged on the potential of circular economy to enhance our competitiveness and resilience.

It's a truly unfortunate development that the world’s largest economy, and one of our closest allies in the fight against climate change, is withdrawing from the Paris Agreement.

The Paris Agreement has strong foundations and is here to stay. While setting ambitious goals, the Paris Agreement will continue to enable each of its Parties to design its own pathway to reach those goals, and to enjoy the benefits of multilateral cooperation it provides.

We look forward to working together with Brazil and other partners ahead of COP30.
