I’m proud to share that our 9-person team covering Musk’s business empire has won a Pulitzer in National Reporting. This is thanks to @durham_uni Harry Evans fellowship, which gave me the opportunity to work with the legendary @stecklow and the tremendously talented @HyunjooJin
@hannahdreier @nytimes @stillsarita @NewYorker @sarahanneconway @city_bureau @invinst Congratulations to @Reuters. #Pulitzer

This was a big pattern I saw in San Antonio slumlords. Advertise a low rent, then spring all sorts of hidden fees — pets, parking, laundry, utilities, insurance, etc. In fact one wrote a book in which he bragged about doing this to wrong money out of a “captive audience”
1. This week @FTC took action against Invitation Homes for advertising lower rents only to then saddle tenants with hundreds of dollars in junk fees. The firm also unjustly withheld people's security deposits and unfairly exposed tenants to evictions.

New from a Reuters team I was on: Companies and others responsible for some of America's most toxic waste sites are using a federal health agency’s faulty reports to save money on cleanups, defend against lawsuits and deny victims compensation.
A federal health agency was created to protect the public from toxic sites. But a @Reuters investigation found it regularly downplays and disregards community concerns – to industry’s benefit

@lastpositivist I haven’t seen this mentioned but it’s very common for left-wingers in conservative areas to register as republicans, so they can vote in Republican primaries.
