Thesis: Gandhi and Savarkar 🖋️ Dilip Mandal M.K. Gandhi, a staunch supporter of the varna system, attempted to forge a political alliance between upper-caste Hindus and Muslims, effectively sidelining Dalits and backward classes from the political arena. This has remained the core Nehru model of the Congress. In contrast, V.D. Savarkar, an anti-caste ideologue, envisioned “Virat Hindutva” as an inclusive framework where Dalits, backward classes, Buddhists, Sikhs, Jains, and others were integral participants. His concept of Hindutva excluded only those whose sacred sites (Punya Bhumi) and ultimate allegiance lay outside India.
