Buzzed to see our #jarrah paper now live! This study was a result of some of my summer 2023 research w/ Kings Park Science. Much work to do in the long-term monitoring of #insect #pollinators, but it was great to get a start on an important canopy species.

The delightful thing about being an #entomologist is that you receive gifts of historic #specimen collections from wonderful scientists! Some of these beautiful #insects (and some very important #pollinator taxa!) date back to 1981!

Had a #buzz chatting about some of my #research implementing camera trapping into invertebrate #pollination studies at our @EdithCowanUni research centres urban biodiversity monitoring workshop. Well done to all involved! I am well and truly exhausted and in need of whisky. 🥃

Our research group is hosting the urban biodiversity monitoring workshop on Wed 13th Nov at the Joondalup Resort. I will be hosting a fun table discussing new approaches to camera trapping in pollination science. Let's chat bees, wasps, AI & collaboration

I had a wonderful time chatting about #nativebees & #pollination with the Year 3 girls at Bletchley Primary, who asked such well-thought-out questions on native bees! Learning about bees blowing bubbles & meeting Ms. Dracula (my Goliath) were highlights!

We are amidst mating season for #flower #wasps here in #SWWA 🎉 ‘Flower wasp’ is a very generic term that typically refers to members of the #Thynnidae, #Tiphiidae, & #Scoliidae. This #Hemithynnus male (without a mate!) was a welcome friend @kingspark_wa this morning. #wasplove

@BeeBabette @WaspGoblin A handsome dude! There’s a subtle ‘spur’ vein on the 1st smc in the forewing, so that supports Thynninae. It’s what I look for in-situ ID (see Mr. Hemithynnus here). I’ll see if I can tighten it up and let you know 😊

As a #pollination ecologist, I am buzzed to see some native #insect #pollinators on show! The common #hoverfly (Melangyna viridiceps) has my #vote this year. #Batesian mimicry, predacious larvae, & incredible (often overlooked) pollinators! #Syrphidae
