Protoform X/Rampage could of looked completely different if the original concept design was used. The original design kept the 3 forms but instead of a tank he would of had a helicopter mode!?, think the crab we got was a lot more intimidating but i do dig the claw arm tho.

It seems like during G1 someone at hasbro/takara wanted fossils to be in G1. The first attempt had the fossilized characters using the rock/ice they where encased in as extra armor in robot mode. Here's a mammoth design with its fossil mode, its normal robot and it armored robot.

Got another piece of G1 concept art today. This time we have near final concept art for Overlord. The original concept didn't initially feature the Powermaster engine gimmick, the head design wasn't finalised and the base mode was more industrial without as many guns.

One of the most fun unused concepts i found for Beast Wars it this piece for a Optimus Prime sort of duocon with a Lion form Prime and a Hummer Prime having seperate robots that would then combine into a Optimus Prime in what looks Kraven the Hunter cosplay.
