AZ has roughly the same number of students now as in 2008; however, the legislative budget for education is now TWICE as high, while proficiency rates have steadily declined. In districts like Mesa, proficiency has been cut in half since 2013. The more money spent on education,

Proficiency declines since 2011 in MPS...Mesa used to have an average of 80% Proficiency in English Language Arts. Now it's below 40%.

Tonight the sound was too low to hear the broadcast of the school choir singing the national anthem. So the attendees started to sing it and it was such a great experience! That's never happened before. So many wonderful people came out to the meeting tonight.

Today the Republican led Corp Comm voted to repeal the REST & Energy Efficiency rules that were put in place more than two decades ago. I look forward to being one of the final votes to eliminate these outdated rules when Staff brings forward their recommendations next year.
