Burhan Karkoutly was a visual artist born in Damascus in 1932. He joined the Faculty of Fine Arts in Cairo in 1952. He died in Germany 2003. Many of his works represent the Palestinian struggle and global freedom movements, spanning posters, book covers and illustrations.
