Sometimes life throws an opportunity your way & u have to close your eyes & jump in. We are excited to announce that we have taken over AgraTactics Agronomy. Thx to Al & Wendy for trusting us to take over the business they worked so hard to build & hope to build upon your legacy.
This is only our 2nd year working with SR seedmaster drills. I have to say mortality is almost nil and germination on seed is 100% this year. I think seeding rates will go👇next year as we get more comfortable with this drill.
Branded 30 heifers with my brothers this evening and then went and looked at some crop. This has caught a few timely rains, this is our L233p seeded into sod. Nice way to end the day, heading back to yorkton.
My sandy ridge that has got good rain, so far. We seeded oats here early to help build up some residue. When the rains came we topdressed it with some extra fertilizer. Seeded on a very poor pea stubble crop last year. Seems to be doing pretty good.
My first ever block, I figured it would come but from a vegan or some other wing nut. I guess he is self isolating from anything other than Cory’s ideas. Isolation is getting the better of people I think. Wow!
For me telling growers that there crops aren’t fungicide worthy is tough for me. It’s like telling them they have an ugly kid or like Elaine on Seinfeld debating if the guy she is dating is sponge worthy or not.
Kaden learning how to drive tractor. His first tractor was a lot bigger than the 806 international I learnt on. I also didn’t have gps assistance, just saying. He also hasn’t taken out any fence posts either like I did with the diamond harrows.
Two farms we work with, both diligently watched there seeding depth this year. Two different drill manufacturers and both set at 1 inch depth due to dry spring and both not seedhawk/seedmaster. I’m like a proud dad. Great job!
Lots of exciting things happening around Yorkton. Always amazes me how they build these new concretes. Expansion at richardson crusher is moving along quick.
Update frost is about 8-12” down,
@hannahnagy6
very impressed with me getting her stuck also while trying to rescue me. Waved the white flag, washed the jeeps and headed for home. You win today SE Sask!
This is my grandfather Wilfred McNeil served as a sniper WW2, he served along with his brother Thomas and his sister Blanche who was a nurse. Today we remember!

I’ve been giving my wife grief lately over giving too much of our money to Jeff Bezos. She was going to order a couple books on Amazon for our kids for Christmas. I told her to support local. Turns out the local book store sells them for the exact same price. Go figure!
So a guy just said to me “ you kinda know stuff about soil, should we be working our land to stop disease? The guys in Manitoba work the shit out of there fields and have great crops.” Me: “if you want your soil to end up in Manitoba then work it, we need to conserve moisture”
Came home to the farm & got the call that there was a grass fire west of Arcola. Actions of the Arcola/Kisbey volunteer firefighters/farmers/oilfield workers made quick work of putting it out before it could get rolling.
Today marks 15 years I have been married to my best friend. Have to say I am a very lucky man. Thanks
@Tissygurl
for putting up with me all these years. Definitely a tough task.
Finished up the wheatland wheat last night on the flats in the Moose Mountains. Had a little help to finish up before it got tough. Green army taking care of business!
We received a card from our youngest sons teacher before the school break. Brady has been carrying it around like a trophy all week. Very proud of him and this has really made him feel good. A small gesture of kindness has gone a long way.
Just looking back through my pictures and found this video of me and dad combining the peas. Man did we have some nice weather hope it returns so we can finish up the canola.
Hear lots of negativity towards agronomists on twitter sometimes and u wonder why u do it. Days like today are the reason I love doing what I’m doing. 1st grower “let’s do the rest of the farm”, 2nd grower “I don’t know where it’s all f-ing come from”

Our son benefitted greatly from the early childhood development program in yorkton to help with his autism. To all the people that helped us along the way I can’t thank you enough.

It’s amazing who you will run into north of Insinger while scouting fields. I’m surprised Boyd got off the boat or away from his mirror.
@CortevaCA
needs to give him a raise he tells me.
#thebandit
Gave this guy a hand no pun intended today for his Brevant canola crop tour. I’ll do anything for a free lunch, well almost anything! Boyd Ellis is a legend in these parts. Awesome canola
@SolonenkoFarms
Queue the dwarf/hobbit jokes. This L350 is tall, too tall for my liking. Hate to see if it actually rained. First 2 pics east of a bluff of trees(sheltered), last pic is in the middle of field with no trees around.
You try to do everything to the best of your abilities and it works out.

Thanks to
@Stacybrownridge
for having a little extra P501L for us to seed.
Huge thank you to
@LTmaple
for seeding the farming for health project this year. We have the new Nexera Liberty Link variety going in for
@Flundy22
from LDC and Boyd Ellis from
@CortevaCA
This project is not possible without the support of these folks.
Where did CTV find the farmer from Hanley that says there is climate change because his crop is still out in the field. And now there are moose and elk in his area. Maybe people quit hunting and they are finally coming back.
I remembered today why I don’t like midrow banders on a drill. I was actually contemplating my next drill with midrow shanks, scrap that. They should be called midrow weedfeeders.
First time I stepped on this field in 2001 it was solid wild oats, dandelions, cleavers and chickweed. This field has come a long way and I have been lucky enough to go with the land. This wheat has some potential.
Read an article in
@westernproducer
that
@GeneralMills
is trying to drive producers away from using pesticides. They said the have found glyphosate in parts per billion in oats. To put that in perspective thats like 1 second in 30 years. Farmers aren’t drenching crops in chemical
Folded this old girl up for the last time today. Think I have owned it for 12 years, has never let us down. I hope the crops behind the 2005 seedmaster can stay on par with this 1994 seedhawk.

@ItsSamG
SNC lavelin scandal, WE charity, Jody Wilson-Rabould, still waiting for the budget to balance itself. Financial irresponsibility has been my main beef. Other than that he has nice socks.
Had a crop tour this evening, 1st pic is my boys in L233p, 2nd is us in the L252, then the boys in Amarillo peas and finally the boys and my niece with my younger brother.
It’s funny as you get older on a farm how rolls reverse. When I was a kid dad would spend all his time fixing shit I broke now it’s the other way around. Lol
Just like to send a huge thank you out to the Arcola volunteer fire department/neighbours/friends. We had an old brush pile start smoldering with this wind and sent embers out into the old brush.
The new Bourgault seedhawk style is very impressive. I will even say the midrow banders did a very nice job. Lol. A certain person will laugh at me for that.
5-6 years ago had a meeting with a producer. At the time we couldn’t work with him. But made one suggestion to remove the phos from his seedrow on his seedhawk. His crops have greatly improved since the conversation.
