And this is why I will never be upset over the samples and the “400 writers”. Because of the sample in Cuff It, Teena Marie has posthumously won her first Grammy.
For at least 10 years, Beyoncé has had a "take me or leave me" attitude, avoiding social media pandering. This may create a facade of greediness or distance, but she's just not interested in the parasocial games other pop stars play to seem relatable. 🤷🏾♂️
SZA is having the success she should be having as a popular artist releasing her second album. Why she’s being compared to Beyoncé is a mystery to me. Let’s be very clear: Renaissance is Beyoncé’s 7th album, that is platinum, has over 1B streams, a number 1 hit and 9 Grammy noms.
Y’all can laugh at Beyoncé having “24” songwriters but it’s actually brilliant and one of the most respectable things she does. When “Renaissance” inevitably wins, that means the people that influenced her will win as well. It means those artists are getting money.
Y’all are scrambling bc y’all didn’t expect Beyoncé to garner this amount of success so quickly. Now it’s “oh it’s trendy”, “such and such did it first” or “it’s not even good”. Y’all didn’t think the GP was going to latch on because you had convinced yourselves Beyoncé was done.
Nobody expected Renaissance out of Beyoncé, so SZA is absolutely right. It’s unlike what we thought it would be. Even AFTER hearing BMS, no one knew what to expect. For an artist of Beyoncé’s stature to come out of left field 25 years into her career, it’s iconic. Get over it.
Some of you all simply have the notion that Beyoncé is too dumb to know what she’s representing and the impact of the iconography that she uses, because she’s a southern black woman. So then you reduce her to being a capitalist using Americana imagery to fit in to country spaces.
Seriously, when you SERIOUSLY reflect on Beyoncé’s career and achievements…it’s just…wow. She was able to maintain, innovate and succeed in a way that none of her cohorts could. An undoubted legend.
You can’t surpass/match Beyoncé without Beyoncé level talent. Bottom line. Stop setting these new artists up because y’all are going to get feelings hurt. Let them be who they are.
Brandy is nowhere near as talented as Beyoncé. She’s a great singer and that’s it. She doesn’t have Bey’s ear for music, dancing talent, performance skills, directing, editing, visual artistry, business smart, I can go on.
But Contessa’s whole storyline for the last 2 seasons has been Scott treating her like 💩. Now that Heavenly has (correctly) called it emotionally abusive, it’s a problem. This man tried to manipulate you out of getting an education because he had to feed the kids…
#married2med
There is nothing Rihanna said in this video that Beyoncé has not said about Cécred and Bey did it without the damn wig on. Now I really don’t want to have to hop in this convo more than I have but there nothing “real” about what she’s doing.
As beautiful as Beyoncé is, as amazing as her discography is, as great of a dancer she is, as amazing of a director/ producer she is, as stunning as her show production is…it has been, and always will be, her vocals that are the most impressive. She simply gets it.
I think it’s odd how people don’t want to include DC stats in Beyoncé’s achievements. I get that she has many on her own, but those years make up so many iconic moments in her career, they should always be included. Sometimes, it’s only to make her look less successful.
Beyoncé's enduring career is a result of her refusal to conform to outside voices, whether from fans, critics, or the internet. This independence has allowed her to stay fresh and avoid the pitfalls that most of her peers have faced, making her the standard of the industry.
That portion of the hive that really still believes Beyoncé is releasing albums for commercial success or money needs to die off before act III. Y’all are useless and ignoring everything this woman has said for about 10 years.
And my final point, if you listened to Cowboy Carter and your takeaway was “Beyoncé is trying to appeal to white audiences”, you did not listen to Cowboy Carter. Period.
I take issue with Kaytranada’s comment, just like with that red-haired "songwriter." They come for Bey, knowing she won’t clap back, even when they’re dead wrong. And, of course, people who hate Beyoncé will always back them up. A narrative that Beyoncé is greedy will always fly.
Beyoncé presents her products, often out of nowhere, and she leaves until she’s ready to perform. She knows her worth and she stands firm. You don’t like it? Oh well, go with confidence that there is another relatable less talented celebrity out there to waste your time.
I didn’t just want Beyoncé to win for herself. I wanted her to win for all of the people that helped her to craft Renaissance and the people that inspired the album. Renaissance encompasses so much history in those 16 tracks. A true slap in the face to Black and queer culture.
LMFAO. Adele fans are trying to MAKE people grow tired of Renaissance. It’s not gonna happen. Renaissance is feel good music. It’s not moody like 30. People rarely grow tired of feeling good. Now that Beyoncé’s album is critically acclaimed, it’s “sales” that should be considered
The Grammys is the next big thing. Discourse around Renaissance is hurtling towards the ground. Now, it’s only a matter of time before Twitter gets tired of those UNIQUE! videos. In 6 months, especially with those egregious sales, it will be remembered as August’s fad.
This is after almost 20 years of being a solo artist. No soft launches for the album. No singles released years in advance. No visuals. Just off of the power of her music. Let’s act accordingly.
Y’all spent the last 5 years rejecting every black celebration Bey created, spent months talking shit about BIK based on a trailer and get all excited about anytime these “black”networks write a “joke” about her family, but now she’s a clown for not going to “black” award shows?
None of Beyoncé’s post-IASF work has been trendy in sound, imagery or concept. To say she’s pivoting from project to project to dupe the public into paying her is the biggest stretch. She’s simply expressing herself and releasing her works as expected, bc she’s an entertainer.
The losers that question Beyoncé’s vocal ability only do so because they cannot fathom that she sings the way she does, while performing the way she does. They try to box her into that old conception of entertainers. She can do both and meet in the middle, dance all night.
Beyoncé isn’t pandering to the white country music gatekeepers, nor is she complaining about CMA recognition. The frustration comes from within the country world, knowing they can’t ignore the album’s success without revealing a bigger, more insidious issue.
It’s said bad but ..rubbing shoulders in Nashville & sharing your celebrity with the grand ole opry is kind of the traditional way to ingratiate yourself ..even for the Canadians and Australians in the game
She knows exactly what she’s doing—that’s why Cécred blew up, adidas confirmed IVP’s success despite the rumors, and Cowboy Carter’s debut had y’all gagged. SHE is the expert, with proven success. You are on Twitter with clients we haven’t heard of yet. Who should we listen to?
The way she rolls out products is so stuck in the 90s and early 2000s. It’s why that stuff be up initially and then sees a drastic decline in sales. More effort and better strategy is required, doesn’t matter who you are.
Beyoncé has demonstrated time and time again she has a deep breadth of knowledge for the symbolism and intentions behind her projects. Yet, here we are again because you all have unconscious biases about what southern black celebrities are able to accomplish through their art.
I remember when I said Beyonce grew up in the top 1% and Twitter cursed me out lmao.
He dad was making like 130K at Xerox in the 90's! And her mom owned a salon. They were loaded.
What frustrates critics the most is their inability to reach her. The same accusations—capitalism, fake activism, even calling her a terrorist and a witch—have been recycled for years. Despite this, she remains steadfast, continuing to do what she wants, sometimes in excess as a
I hate how lately, Beyoncé’s artistry and contribution to music cannot be complimented without taking a dig or a shot at Taylor for being successful. There is a reason why she sells well and to boil it down to her being white is so silly. These people don’t even listen to her
The Beyoncé detractors want her attention bad. That’s all they want. Look at ole girl from Abbott. Hehe-ing with nocar in 2020 and liking all kinds of shady tweets during BIK, but standing in line to meet her at Wearable Art. They should be happy the Queen is gracious.
You’ll go as far as accusing her of using hollow imagery/misrepresenting herself, but you can’t go any deeper than “Beyoncé has money and money is bad” as a critique. It’s a joke. She’s an artist, not a politician. It’s clear she prefers to speak through her art. Enjoy the ride.
Y’all just don’t understand what Beyoncé stanning looks like for OG hive. We don’t shy away from anything Beyoncé in public because we aren’t embarrassed about our love for the Matriarch of the Modern Music Industry. It may seem performative but it’s genuine love for Bey.
And let me just say this, discussions about Destiny’s Child and the dynamics in 2022 are BEYOND tired. Let it go. If you all want Kelly to be more popular, support her. If Latavia is your girl, LIFT her UP. Stop all the BS. It’s been almost 20 years since they disbanded.
A lot of you need to seriously figure out what Beyoncé triggers in you. It’s been weird as fuck, but now it’s bordering on mental illness. Do the work to be better.
Personal details and mess doesn’t make a documentary good. Focus on a subject is what makes a doc good. This is why Homecoming is a critically acclaimed, Emmy nominated documentary. The focus was on Coachella and the story behind that. Beyoncé doesn’t sell her docs on MESS.
nod to say “Hey” to her critics with a wink and a smile. They can never make me hate her and I don’t want her to change a thing. If she’s not fulfilling your “favorite capitalist” needs, find another one.
As someone who has been around since the beginning of her career, the only reason Beyoncé is hated is bc she’s still successful. She simply wasn’t “supposed” to make it this far. They underestimated her talent bc she’s a black SOUTHERN woman.
I have never in my life heard an album like that. Beyoncé is a genius. Everyone involved should feel very proud to be a part of musical history because that’s exactly what
#Renaissance
is. Fucking wow 😭
Beyoncé was pushed to the front because she was the only one efficiently using the group’s limited studio time and budget. Producers noticed she was the one arranging the harmonies and able to get the melodies correct the first time. The story of DC is well documented.
@virtuosointel
i mean was she not pushed in front and singing lead on most not all of the songs was y'all not calling the group beyonce and her back up singers
Beyoncé quite literally says in the video that this product is marketed to “all hair textures” and the ads have all featured people of every race and gender. This isn’t just for black people. Yes, it’s YOUR insecurity and that’s why you’re projecting.
The Beyoncé/Jay-Z anti-capitalist tweets are always wrapped in jealousy. It’s always from the same sect of academics who look at the popularity, wealth and visibility the Carters get and believe they too should have that because they went to school.
I had a full breakdown trying to listen to “Virgo’s Groove” Wednesday. Renaissance is going to be very special to me. My mom really enjoyed that album and I’m glad I shared it with her.
“Bey is not a fashion girl!” No, I’d say Bey is 1 of the few artists that IS a fashion girl. She takes actual risks with her looks & doesn’t dress like an IG model. A fashion icon’s looks are never universally appreciated when they wear them, but best believe they will be copied.

@Myles_fenty22
@Lambolitefenty
@vogue_navy
Bey's Lemonade was rubbish. Plain and simple. She did the album to outstage Rihanna and failed. That's why she paid the Grammies to give all the nominations to her instead. And y'all know it, u know the album was wack but just cuz it Beyonce, every damn hive is playing support 😆
Beyonce fans are loud on the internet but never show up to buy her music, which is what is actually important.
It also proves to me that they are more interested in the spectacle and her beauty.
Barbz and people that work with Nicki are comfortable speaking negatively about Beyoncé because Onika does. Point blank. Nicki is way too involved with her fans for it to be otherwise. She allows them to speak on her behalf because she shares those sentiments.
It doesn’t lack replay value, you just have a very limited taste in music. If you can’t find the replay value in an album that starts with American Requiem, you’re simply tasteless and should probably leave the fanbase for a more basic artist who doesn’t challenge themselves.
It lacks replay value & she let it completely come and go. No visuals, performances, or proper single pushes can only be cute for so long. The era is non existent and the album (unlike Renaissance) isn’t strong enough to keep us fed.
1 thing abt Bey…she’s gonna win. Ppl say her soundtrack album underperformed, she creates an award winning visual that increases the streamer’s viewership. Call her line ugly, “ugly” designs sell out in mins. Songs underperform bc they are too “black”, wins awards and gets nods.
