We're incredibly excited to announce Filmbox.
We're pretty sure we've created the best motion picture film emulation that money can buy.
The entire photochemical imaging process, running on your GPU.
Now in early access. Film is undead.
Screen is now available as a perpetual license for $149!
If you were previously a subscriber, your license has already been upgraded to perpetual and you won't be billed anymore. 💕
Literally it has never been easier to take a screenshot of a video.
And tip top quality! Preserve the original resolution, alpha channel, bit depth (even 16-bit integer or 32-bit float). Directly to EXR, TIFF, PNG, JPEG, or HEIF. 🤩
Filmbox is now available for Windows and Linux!
Existing indie customers have Windows included, Studio customers get Windows + Linux.
Spicy deals for new customers!
Go make some films!
Filmbox update!
Version 2.0 contains important refinements to the color pipeline and “Halation and Grain Only” mode.
(1.9 remains available for existing grades.)
Read the details here:
Scatter is a physically accurate digital emulation of real optical diffusion filters.
Full control over the image in post, consistent across focal lengths. No light loss, tint, back reflections, or speckled bokeh.
Out now!
Your feedback on Scatter has been super informative!
We've decided to make the prices more compelling for a wider audience. Here's the new options:
• $99 / quarter
• $199 / year
• $499 perpetual
Thanks to everyone who bought Screen in its first year! Still lots of great new features in the works!
And we might have some fun new things to show soon...
🎞📦
Our new video player Screen uses the same industry-leading LUT and color pipeline as our first app, Lattice, the color science laboratory. Lattice is used on tons of productions, large and small. We hope you'll find both apps useful!
HOT PLUGIN SUMMER is here!
🌞 Filmbox 1.8 with Extended print color science.
🏖️ Scatter for Windows
🌴 Summer sale! Get the first quarter of Scatter for $23.976! Filmbox for $48! 20% off perpetual licenses of both!
Here's a quick comparison between Filmbox and actual film. (Twitter murders most of this with compression, but you can check it out at higher bitrate at )
HOT DEALS FOR COLD WEATHER!!! Winter deals are live for Filmbox and Scatter! Some of these deals are so good we are actually unsure if we've lost our god damn minds!
The film we use in our screenshots and videos is Andrew Finch's Others Will Follow.
Sometimes people accuse us of using footage from a major Hollywood blockbuster without permission.
Nope, he just made a really, really ridiculously good looking short.
It looks like there is an issue with Filmbox and Scatter in certain situations on a fresh install of Resolve 17.3. Some customers report a “failed to load” error.
We’re working on the issue as fast as we can, but until then a workaround is rolling back to Resolve 17.2.2
SHOCKING FACT: There's no magenta in a rainbow. 🌈
Magenta isn't on the color spectrum. There's no wavelength of light for magenta. Magenta is just an idea, man.
Screen updated with support for markers! Add them with confidence - Screen will remember your markers across sessions, along with your other movie settings. Import + Export of Resolve Marker EDL and CSV currently supported.
We've set up GitHub Discussions as a home for community support, feature requests, issue reporting, Q&A, and any other kind of conversations you'd like to have about our apps or nearby subjects.
Feel free to check it out and ask or answer a question!
We've got several different purchase options for indies, studios, and individual productions. Plus, a Lite version so you can check it out for non-commercial use!
@nicowolf_wb
Yep, we're a tiny company with a niche product for professional users. Tricky to get pricing right but we think that Screen is a great value.
We've added a new purchase option for Scatter – a perpetual license for folks who prefer a one-time payment.
#DiffusionForever
(Monthly and yearly subscription options remain available for one-off projects or other use cases.)
We have tons of things on the Screen roadmap we’re excited to build, but some of our favorite features are suggestions from our customers. Let us know what will improve your workflow and you just might find it in the next update! 🗳
@lutaround
It would have to be a total rewrite, and we're not Windows users so it's not something that we think is likely near-term, but it's something we are keeping an eye on.
@TheBlackburn82
We don't currently have plans for making Windows versions of our apps. We like to make apps that are designed and engineered to fit naturally into the platform. We just aren't as familiar with Windows development and the app would likely have to be a total rewrite.
@TheBlackburn82
That said, it's useful feedback that you'd like a Windows version! We definitely take that into consideration. If enough demand piles up to justify the effort we may consider it at some point!
@drsjamesserra
Screen is supported on any Mac that can run macOS 10.13 or later (though 10.14 or later is recommended).
It looks like some 2009 Macs are compatible with that OS, but here is Apple's official compatibility information:
A rare opportunity to get Screen at 20% off! Back the Kickstarter with $79 or more and get Screen for $1. Only 5 copies available, so get it before it’s gone! 🎥
VIDEO PEOPLE! As one of our Kickstarter rewards our incredible DP
@gregcotten
is offering 5 licenses for the amazing video player SCREEN at 20% off. That's $79 instead of $99. This is HUGE!! Go snag one the player is amazing!
@isaactdotco
@JBowdacious
IINA is definitely good, but not geared toward post-production. Full timecode controls, LUTs, pixel sampling, and total control over color management are just some of the features that set Screen apart!
@luxiterembis
We have lots of features specifically for people who work with video professionally. FFMPEG and MPV don't have some of those – but if they fit your needs go for it! They're great!
10 Screen updates in less than a month, including these 🔥 features:
- Lossless trimmed export
- Screenshots w/ alpha
- High bit depth screenshots
- Advanced JKL gestures
- Export muted
- Loop
- Ping-pong
- More keyboard shortcuts
- WebP
More to come!
@aaronhinton92
You might need to install Apple's Pro Video Formats package. Try Help -> Update Pro Video Formats... to see if you have the latest version installed!
@watchvideosoul
1. Yes! Color management is a big feature of Screen. You can choose to match Quicktime’s color management by default (respecting NCLC tags), manually specify a named color profile (ex: Rec. 709, Gamma 2.4), or bypass color management completely.
2. Coming soon!
@Adamski
Hi Adam! You can purchase a perpetual license of Filmbox on our website… we’d love to figure out how to make that more obvious for potential customers - do you have any suggestions?
@TheBlackburn82
TBH, we're hoping a bit that Apple's recent push back into the Pro area is going to be sustained🤞. But we'll definitely be keeping an eye on where the industry is heading.
