Rent control: The radical idea that your landlord shouldn’t be able to price gouge you on a whim.

Literally everyone: Please, we need housing healthcare, funding for our schools, anything that helps us. Local governments: Best we can do is Police Cybertruck.

The fact is that investing in housing, public health, and critical community programs is investing in public safety, full stop. We need a city budget that builds a Pasadena for All and our current budget falls short of that.

This week the Pasadena City Council approved the city budget for fiscal yr 2025. The $1.1 billion budget continues a troubling trend of moving more funding towards policing while failing to make bold investments in the things we know actually keep our communities safe & thriving.

I dug into the newly adopted Pasadena city budget this week and here is a glimpse of our priorities.

Never forget that we have the resources to make sure no one goes without housing, food and healthcare, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Our current systems and conditions didn’t materialize out of thin air, we can change them. A better world is possible 🌹.

Pasadena City Councilmember & candidate Justin Jones is sending disingenuous mailers listing voters who “support him” along w/ identifying info like street voters live on. To make things worse at least 1 of the voters listed is NOT supporting him. This must be called out.
