You know, now that Spitfire has turned LABS into subscription garbage, it'd be a REAL shame if someone were to launch a new series of free instruments that run in a free plugin...
...and happened to have the Polybrute 12 to kick things off.
Introducing Waves Creative Access 🙌
The new exclusive way to get Waves plugins.
All Waves plugins, available in a click, always up to date, always adding the latest releases to your sessions—all in one easy subscription.
𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐑𝐓 𝟕 𝐃𝐀𝐘𝐒 𝐅𝐑𝐄𝐄:
Music production is spending $3600 on equipment and then spending $23 on a chair and wondering why your back hurts while refreshing your streaming analytics.
After (many) months of internal deliberation, conversations with artists/producers/developers and friends I've decided to remove my profile and instruments from
@pianobook_
This has been eating a hole in my gut for a long time.
Hey
@TeamYouTube
how about a fun idea where people can't create a copyright claim for music on the musician's channel.
My name is literally in the fucking title.
Crazy to think that
@Luftrum1
has taken GPT and utilized it to create an AI synthesis engine that's this good and made it completely FREE. I'm honestly mildly concerned for my job as a sound designer 😅
Hey everyone: if you see anyone posting a video about
@output
soon, here's a fun look at the inner workings of how you shill garbage.
Also
@output
- your friends at
@Ubiquitous_HQ
have been annoying me and I'd love to talk about your brief and bullshit upcoming campaign.
I would like to now take this opportunity to thank
@TeamYouTube
for making the world a better place and keeping all of you safe from my obscene and violent rant about brand record labels and the music industry.
Music production is writing a track with I - V -vi - IV then complaining about people that use MIDI Packs or chord assistants because hand played MIDI is the only real MIDI.
Man, you know it'd be a real shame if someone else just decided to pick up where LABS left off and decided to just make free libraries that are actually free for everyone forever... 🤔
4 years, two states, quitting my 9-5, 100k Subscribers, 8m+ views, and 600k+ hours of watchtime later I still can't believe this happened!
I would have never thought this was possible, and I've checked off so many life goals I never would have dreamed of.
Thanks for keeping the streets safe
@TeamYouTube
making sure I can't upload more extreme violent and harmful content about record labels and the music industry. Here's a lil' ditty just for you.
I got 250k subscribers and all I got was this stupid brownie
Seriously though I have no idea what to say other than this is way beyond anything I could have ever expected. Thank you all so much! 🤠
@rob_swire
EVERYTHING IS A DISASTER AND EXISTENCE IS MEANINGLESS
In seriousness though I'm doing awesome. It's been so much fun being able to explore this content instead of having to talk about plugins and shit haha.
Music production is knowing the best way to stay awake is with caffeine and panic attacks because the mix is almost ready and this isn't just an expensive hobby.
Following
@SpitfireAudio
's middling statement, a lack of any real consequence or discussion or meaningful action for/with/surrounding CH's behavior and subsequent actions, and CH not addressing anything either, it's just time to leave.
"After an exhaustive internal investigation, we've found ourselves free of any wrongdoing"
@TuneCore
/
@Believemusic_UK
/
@AndreeaGleeson
can't simultaneously champion themselves as supporters of independent artists and also be the arbitrary gatekeeper of your own work.
An "internal investigation" has confirmed "evidence" of streaming fraud on Spotify.
Therefore, The Flashbulb and my other music has been permanently removed from all platforms.
23 albums nuked overnight with no warning or communication.
Give me a fucking break
@tunecore
. 🤬
And:
- ChowDSP BYOD + ConvologyXT (for custom guitar rigs + cab IRs)
- Your DAW stock plugins (I swear they are better than you think)
- Another $149 in your savings account just for fun
- Making music instead of buying more plugins you don't need.
After a pretty difficult week and some time offline, I got to spend the weekend with my dad and stepmom and he surprised me with this Gibson that belonged to my great grandpa and was found by my dad after he had passed away and has been with him ever since.
Also hey Devin at
@Ubiquitous_HQ
...
Like 3 emails is more than enough my guy - it's not me, it's you. Take a hint.
The whole 'ultimatum' thing is real damn trashy and I think we should break up. I'm just not that into you.🖕
The instruments will remain up for a bit, but will be gone at the end of the week or so. Going forward, the free instruments and PB exclusives I created will be on my own website. The paid versions will be on my Gumroad, as well as the Decent Sampler store.
First an 'unrelated' smokescreen of new management (read: not actual ownership), a well-timed rebrand announcement, then this. Can't help but feel that's *mighty* convenient - the discussion here isn't over.
In an absolutely shocking twist:
@SpitfireAudio
continues to not give a fuck.
Can't wait for another 5 months of ignoring the issue and pissing in the wind before another double-down slam dunk of that sweet, sweet ✨d I v e r S i T y ✨
Knowing what happened to some community members and others in the orbit of it all, I hate that this was brushed off and the stories of those really affected were never totally heard let alone amplified or addressed.
K
@TeamYouTube
- my latest video about has been flagged for 'violence' and been age restricted.
Nobody has provided any answers, and someone 'manually reviewed' to uphold the decision.
I spent 6 days editing this. Please point it out to me.
So
@TeamYouTube
just to be absolutely clear the best way to avoid abusing MY copyright with MY music on MY channel (which is verified) is to delete MY music from MY channel.
Are you shitting me with this?
The last thing content creators and musicians need is some service grifting them on YouTube abusing the copyright claim policy. Pretty sure that's also not...you know...legal.
You've got a friend in me 🎶
Happy first Anniversary to my lovely wife and queen of the unicorns.
Thanks for putting up with me and my bullshit for the last like 10 years. I'm not going to stop or anything though, I'm awesome.
I love the idea of Pianobook and 'sound for everyone, by everyone' but between what happened and what's happened (or, more accurately, not happened) since it's just become this aching feeling in the back of my brain that I'm maybe in the wrong here.
@bennjordan
You, me, a cabin in the woods, 48 hours, two Polybrute 12s, and nothing but a bottle of Tennessee Whiskey, two Sony cinema cameras, and the warmth of our friendship to keep us alive. 😘
New achievement unlocked: I actually broke part of the Internet.
Thank you all for the support on the release!
@UVIofficial
and I couldn't be happier with the response.
They're working to resolve the overwhelming traffic now, things should stabilize soon! 🤞
After a solid week of researching, writing, editing, interviewing, and more editing followed by a bit more editing, the NotLo video is here.
After this, I don't think I want to do any more EDM Twitter videos 😅
Thanks to the pure genius of
@TeamYouTube
people can now straight up steal your channel name to run scams in the comments because of how awesome handles are.
So awesome that such a small independent company is so thoughtful.
Because of this and my own personal views, I can't in good conscience participate in the platform anymore. I'm frustrated to know that also means no longer leaving my instruments up or being able to engage with so many wonderful other samplists/musicians/artists/people.
I don't know what the right move is, and I sat still (despite being furious, honestly) in hopes of moving things forward but I also can't help but feel like that's maybe also being part of the problem?
After a TON of work, my new project 'All Things West Of Somewhere' is finally done.
Made over the course of a 5000 mile trip, weeks of writing and editing, and scored exclusively with
@UVIofficial
libraries + a few live instrument performances from yaboi for the final track.
I'm officially a homeowner! 🏡
Will be taking a bit of a break from YouTube while I build a new home studio, but will be vlogging the process!
Cheers friends - more Morning Coffee episodes on the way soon! ☕
Okay well shilly shill shilling here a bit and wanted to say I've gone ahead and cut ties with
@Bitwig
. Although I'm apparently incapable of putting my money where my mouth is (and it was difficult to drive my eight Ferraris to the computer in my mansion to do it) it's done.
So...
@bennjordan
and I went and captured possibly the most dangerous reverb we've ever recorded.
Stay tuned on both our YT channels for the terrifyingly claustrophobic tale of the craziest IRs we've ever made!
Music production is UFOs, clicking though 1,382 kick drum samples, Ohio turning into a Fallout map, 2am Reddit conspiracy binges, and knowing that buying that new plugin is what will actually fix the mix.
Man I got took'd down. Good on you Donutmaster - next time I pay my internet bill with my income from being a fake producer making chaos I'll pour one out for you.
My friends at
@kilohearts
said to do as they asked so that [redacted] and if it goes well I can be released from the containment facility known as [redacted]
Pianobook not only gave me a new platform to share and engage with others, bu alsot to learn and grow myself. I hate to think that I'll no longer be a part of that group anymore, but I do hope people can understand why.
This has been a moral dilemma for me for a long time now but that's the end of the road. I don't know that I'll ever be back on PB, and I will not be pursuing any further work with Spitfire unless something actually meaningful happens which seems...unlikely.
I hate to think that artists departing due to CH’s behavior may discourage others from creating or participating in such an incredible community, but in the end I think by not participating you are not discouraging anyone - CH is.
I won't encourage other users to follow my decision here, but I would like to encourage you to make it known that things like this aren't okay and you can't just wait it out and everything's cool 5 months later.
I've never used arcade, and now I know I'll definitely never touch it and happily recommend that my audience doesn't either. You obviously have no real respect for creators beyond them doing your bidding sticking to the script to shill the lowest common denominator.
Congrats.
Because I'm absolutely terrible at promotion and also not sure what to say: my album is finally dropping May 10th! 🎶
As recently reviewed by my wife: "it makes me feel like I'm underwater and sad, but like in a good way because you're just okay with existing"
Okay
@TeamYouTube
- I posted a short about you marking my video as 'adults only' and now the comments keep getting disabled every 5 minutes.
I've manually enabled them again, but if I need to stay up all night fighting this shit I'm more than happy to.
I wanted to stay onboard and see things through with the community and work to build things up again, but knowing the impact that this has had on members of the PB community and beyond is weighing way too much on my mind and just doesn't feel right or okay.
A while ago I told
@MUSTDIEmusic
I thought the
@rayvolpe
track Laserbeam would make a good piano piece - it only took me like a year to sit down and doodle it together. Someone please take this and finish it so I don't have to.
In case you haven't seen
@bennjordan
's excellent video on the insanity of YT marketing, this is the level of bullshit/harassment he's referring to.
This is just ~2.5 weeks worth of 'offers' (read: 98% harassment to shill NFTs and stuff) I've received to my YT email.
